[00:00:00]Jordan: And it's like, it almost becomes just like self, it's like a vortex in a way.
[00:00:06]Darius: Like you want to give that one another shot? You want to give that one another shot.
[00:00:09]Jordan: Yeah, I'm going to get...
[00:00:11]Darius: I have your cut. You can give that one another shot. Welcome to Out Trunk with Jordan and Darius. My name is Darius. That's these all of me, Ariel on all socials.
[00:00:21]Jordan: And I'm Jordan. That's Jordan B. Riding on all socials.
[00:00:25]Darius: This is our segment titled, What's On Our Mind, where we let you guys know what's on our mind, still taking suggestions for a new title. At this point, one day we're actually just gonna pick one. I did want to start recently, or just like before I got on here, I was scrolling Twitter and apparently they have greenlit and casted for a Snoop biopic. And I would just like to announce today that I will vote for whatever politician puts a ban on these things. And Bill, we don't need any more of these glorified sing-along music video biopics that don't get into anything. And I just, why are we still doing these? I don't, well, they make money, but that's, how do you feel about it.
[00:01:13]Jordan: Yeah, I don't, yeah, see, I'm cool with biopics if it's Depending on who it's about. I don't necessarily need to see a Snoop one. That's just not, I don't know. It's just not a journey I'm really interested in seeing play out on the screen, quite frankly. He's a legend. You know, I love Snoop, but I don't need to see, you know, somebody play him and Martha Stewart cooking. Like, I'm cool with that.
[00:01:38]Darius: I'm cool. We just don't do these. Let's go on a 10 year pause.
[00:01:42]Jordan: I hear you. I mean, I think some people should deserve biopics being made about them and just, they have to be a certain, certain echelon.
[00:01:52]Darius: I think they're only worth it if they're going to be good. Well, don't know ****. I think they're only worth it if they're going to be honest and get into it. That's fair.
[00:01:59]Jordan: That's valid.
[00:02:00]Darius: But if it's just going to be. Like that Michael Jackson one. That was just a, that was just a music video. It wasn't like, it was karaoke. He just got to watch his nephew play karaoke and that's fine. But like, why, do we need that? I don't. Yeah, I got the albums already. If you're not going to tell me what happened in his life.
[00:02:17]Jordan: Yeah, I feel you. Yeah. And then there was like time jumps and they cut a lot, had to cut a lot of **** out for, for people didn't want to be in the movie or what and **** like that. So that's, also part of why the movie was so watered down. But yeah, I think it makes me think of like, okay, two of my favorite biopics are Ray and Ali. Like those to me are, well, obviously, what's love got to do with it? But those two in particular are my favorites that I watched growing up because they told everything, you know, they talked about, you know, Ali's affairs and the feds following him and wiring his **** and, you know, his relationship with Malcolm and that falling apart and his regret after, you know, Malcolm got killed and everything like that. So I think when they're honest, like the Raid documentary biopic, they showed rehab, they showed him in, going through withdrawals and all that. Yeah, man, legendary meme. Yeah, they showed him, being a terrible husband. You know what I'm saying? Like, I think that I feel like because we want to respect our legends, especially when they die, we don't, when we tell the story, we leave a lot of the colors out of it. But that's what makes the story interesting. That's what makes the rise and fall. So.
[00:03:26]Darius: So operatic, I mean, a lot oftentimes the subjects don't know what's actually interesting about them. That's why, like those player tribunes always are, they suck because most people don't know what's actually interesting about them. That's why you want a journalist to do it. And I actually don't want to respect our legends. I don't know these people. Tell me what happened. Respect these people for what? I've never met any of them.
[00:03:51]Jordan: Respect me for what? It's crazy.
[00:03:54]Darius: I don't know. Like these are, they My grandpa. I don't know.
[00:03:58]Jordan: That's really my granddaddy.
[00:04:02]Darius: At the very least, can we know biopics if they're still with us? Snoop Dogg is like 55 years old.
[00:04:08]Jordan: That's right. That's my thing.
[00:04:09]Darius: I think he's got to be old enough for the treatment, you know?
[00:04:12]Jordan: Yeah, they got to be dead. They got to be dead at least 10 years before we make them.
[00:04:16]Darius: No biopics for musicians still with us and no documentaries for athletes still currently playing. Like why does Steph Curry get a documentary? He's still playing.
[00:04:27]Jordan: Right, yeah, I agree.
[00:04:30]Darius: At least retire before we do the documentary angle.
[00:04:32]Jordan: Correct. Yeah, we need to see the whole story for you to tell the whole story, you know.
[00:04:37]Darius: I'm at the point now where if the subject is involved with the production in any way, shape, or form, I'm not watching it. Yeah, it's going to.
[00:04:46]Jordan: Be it's going to be, you know, a highlight reel.
[00:04:48]Darius: Well, let me put it this way. If the subject is involved editorially, if they participate, that's different. But if they have any say over the actual, like final product, I'm not watching it. Eventually, I didn't watch the Steph Curry one. I just, if I find out that the subject, who the documentary is on, has any control over the content, I'm out. I feel you.
[00:05:13]Jordan: It's interesting you bring that up. You bring that up because I was watching a clip maybe like last week about on the button pod. They were talking about Scottie Pippen dating his new girlfriend who's like the same age Bill, Bill Belchick's girlfriend. They got to stop that best or the story for another day. And they're talking about how like he's been they feel like he's been kind of like crashing out since basically since the last dance came out, you know? And it's like. But I kind of get it because you thought you was cool with Mike and he aired you the **** out in his documentary that he had final control over and put that **** in there that first season that he wasn't even playing. You know what I mean? Like, so that speaks to what can happen when you have the subject having creative control over the storytelling.
[00:05:55]Darius: The only reason the last dance worked because Michael Jordan is such a sociopath. He doesn't know that he sounds terrible.
[00:06:03]Jordan: Yes, he doesn't know. He doesn't know.
[00:06:04]Darius: But if he was aware enough, he would have cut a lot of that stuff. But he's just he's just so sociopathic that he didn't know that he came off poorly in spots. But like, correct. That's why I have, you know, eventually like Eventually LeBron's going to do a documentary. And if he has control over it, I'm out. Like he's just, it's going to be so boring. He's not going to say anything. He hasn't said anything interesting in 15 years. Like, so why would he say anything interesting in this documentary? Like it's just, you know, so I think what are you going to say?
[00:06:35]Jordan: You'll say I think once he's retired and he's like relaxing, he's not under the pressure of being what he's supposed to be. and who he is, I think his acumen actually would be really good. Cause I think he's gonna have, I mean, the highlights gonna be ******* crazy, of course. The story's gonna be great, but I think he's far more self-aware than most great athletes are, which is why I think the media picks at him the way they do, quite frankly. So I think that we have a good shot of him being honest about certain things in his doc.
[00:07:03]Darius: I just, if I like, if he handed it to Brian Windhorst or Dave McMillan and said, Here's all of my tapes. Here's all of my stuff. Call me when you want to interview me. It's all yours. And then a year later we get it. I'll watch that. But if I find out that Clutch Productions is in control, I'm out. I don't want to watch that. I just don't, I have no interest in that whatsoever. But yeah, he hands it over to Windhorse and he says, call me when you want to interview. Here's this. Here's that. Here's my mom's phone number. Here's That rapper she was dating's phone number and here's da da da da. And here's Yes, Jules's DMs. Like, I will watch that. I'm not watching.
[00:07:44]Jordan: Yo, did you see what she tweeted the other day?
[00:07:47]Darius: The picture she posted.
[00:07:49]Jordan: No, it was, I didn't see that one. There was one where she posted the famous with the famous picture which she posted with the famous caption. The fruits of my labor, laughing through it all.
[00:07:58]Darius: Oh, oh, yeah, And.
[00:08:00]Jordan: Somebody was like, yo, Savannah might shoot her.
[00:08:04]Darius: I think that was, they said that was a warrior psyops, because to get here, to get Savannah to scratch the Miami trip. All right, man. So we got, I saw there was a tweet. I can't find it. The link is dead, but it was like, yeah, the fall will come. It was like December 18th. You can watch Doom 3. You can watch Thursday and you can go home and play GTA 6. And then on top of that, you can watch football Saturday and Sunday. That's going to be a good month, you know.
[00:08:34]Jordan: Yeah, it really is. It's literally Christmas coming early, like **** ***.
[00:08:39]Darius: It's so did you check out the trailer?
[00:08:43]Jordan: Oh, **** yeah. I'm super excited. That **** looked lit as ****. Some people felt lukewarm about it. I was very excited. I was like, oh ****. You know, that truly had me on edge. Seeing the Wakandans link up with Fantastic Four. Seeing the more back in it. I thought he was a great villain. Seeing Shang Chi fight Gambit. I don't know what they'd be scrapping about, but I'm here for it.
[00:09:06]Darius: I thought they scrapped that whole Shang Chi. I mean, I haven't seen it.
[00:09:09]Jordan: I did too. I did too. And I thought that was a really good movie. I actually liked that a lot. It's a shame it came out during the pandemic. I think it would have been way bigger. Bringing back Steve, which they already showed he was coming back because there was a clip. There was like a teaser trailer that came out maybe like a month or two ago. It looks like we're going to get our *** whipped though, because Doom looks like he looks like Danos 2.0, bro. Like we might be cooked. I was talking to my friends on Facebook and I was like, yeah, we might need to call. I was like, yeah, the more may have to save us all. I don't know who like. They might need to call it Justice League, Super Friends.
[00:09:43]Darius: There's a, someone said that there's a, I watched the trailer. I'm not gonna **** anyone's corner for like, so I'm just let people have it, be excited about it.
[00:09:51]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:09:52]Darius: But there was a, there was a shot where they're all in a room and someone was like, you can clearly tell looking at this, like at least five people did it out.
[00:09:58]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:09:59]Darius: So I imagine that they have just, it's going to be even bigger.
[00:10:04]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:10:04]Darius: But yeah, it looked, it, look, it, I'm not an MCU guy, but I could definitely see why people are excited about this one because none of the new characters have stuck. So they just, bring.
[00:10:18]Jordan: They kind of had to, they really had to. Yeah.
[00:10:21]Darius: And what they, Kang was supposed to be the plan and then Jonathan Mage just ****** that up. And so people were like, you can't go straight to Doctor Doom. You built up Thanos over 20 movies. It's like, I get that. But like, One, I just don't think people have the attention span for 20 movie build-ups anymore. Like, 2010 was a long time ago. And 2, like they just, they need a win. And so they're just.
[00:10:49]Jordan: They do.
[00:10:50]Darius: And they need a win.
[00:10:52]Jordan: Agreed. And plus, Thanos. was really only in 3 movies. Like people forget that. Like he was spoken about like it's almost like Voldemort and Harry Potter where he's spoken about in all the movies. But like in the first movie, he's in it for like 5 minutes. Second movie, he's not in it. Well, his horcrux is in it. You know what I mean? Like it's he's a spectral thing, but he's not in a lot of the movies. You know what I'm saying? Same thing with Thanos. So I. think it's people are using some revisionist history here. He was really only in Infinity War and Endgame if people like really reflect on ****. You know what I'm saying? So.
[00:11:22]Darius: And also it was built up over 20 movies, but the movies weren't about to build up. Like the movies were.
[00:11:26]Jordan: Correct.
[00:11:27]Darius: Like you didn't even know what they were doing until you got to that place.
[00:11:30]Jordan: We didn't know. I didn't. We didn't really know until the Avengers came out. At least as far as you know, on my end, I didn't. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I think I know they're bringing back the X-Men too.
[00:11:42]Darius: They reheated some nachos. They reheated some nachos.
[00:11:45]Jordan: I'm excited, bro. I'm excited, man. I love the X-Men.
[00:11:48]Darius: I'm here for it. There was a scene where Captain America is staring at Thor and it was a little, it was some reheated nachos, but you know, what can you do? Nothing else has worked. No one's gravitating to the new Captain America. Dang Chi disappeared. He just got to play the hits.
[00:12:08]Jordan: Yeah, that's my thing. It's like, yeah, like Captain America or as we Black Twitter calls him bird. He didn't take the serum. So I'm like, what are you doing? And I liked his movie actually. His show was cool. It was one of the best of the Marvel shows to me. But yeah, man, I think, and also it's been like almost 10 years now since Endgame. So it's kind of been enough time to be honest. And someone made a great point. They were like, it's the Marvel, bro. Unless you're Uncle Ben, you coming back. Yeah, that's true.
[00:12:39]Darius: Like if you are familiar with comic books, like Superman has been killed 10 times over. And so you do have to suspend belief. And the only thing for me is just, you know, granted it's a trailer, so a lot of stuff isn't done. So actually, I don't really it was a little CGI wonky, but trailers are, they're not done yet.
[00:13:02]Jordan: So, they probably haven't even finished the movie. So, also people were talking about like Chris Evans' appearance in the movie, because he has like long hair and ****. And I think they're like, oh, he looks different. He touched his face. I'm like, I think he just aged guys. But also, I think that might be the Hydra Captain America. I don't think that's actually Steve Rogers.
[00:13:23]Darius: That's the other thing, man. He's been It's been like 20 years, right? Like 15. Yeah.
[00:13:30]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:13:32]Darius: The people age. And, you know, I think a lot of millennials, like 30 wear, 40 wear, struggle with aging, especially when it comes to the celebrities, because it's like a reflection. It's like a mirror. And, you know, yeah. People age and it's okay. that's totally fine. Not a Dune guy. I tried to, I popped into Dune 2 as a movie without having seen Dune 1 and just laughing.
[00:14:04]Jordan: I watched Dune 1 and I was like, what's happening? I got to go back and watch them.
[00:14:08]Darius: You know, not for me. GTA 6 will be though.
[00:14:11]Jordan: Yeah, for sure. Definitely copying that.
[00:14:14]Darius: I was putting my stake in the ground today though. I do not believe they're coming out on the same day.
[00:14:19]Jordan: That's happening. That's it. They've had it slated for like 2 years. That's happening.
[00:14:23]Darius: How are they going? There's a finite number of IMAX theaters. So how are they?
[00:14:26]Jordan: I don't know how. I don't know how they're going to do that. I have no idea.
[00:14:30]Darius: Christopher Nolan. But it's happening to part of his deal with Odyssey was he. There's a total blackout. I'm you cannot watch anything in any IMAX for the next month. Why wouldn't Marvel do that for doomsday? I just don't understand. They have just as they have more resources than Christopher Nolan. It's just weird that they neither of these parties would black it out.
[00:14:50]Jordan: I think it's a there it's basically a Barbenheimer situation, like two competing things that actually help each other raise help each other, you know, raise their profiles.
[00:14:59]Darius: You know, there's one IMAX theater within, I don't, you know, around here.
[00:15:04]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:15:04]Darius: And so Doomsday is going to get that. And so why would Doom pass up all that money? Because that's like extra $10 a ticket.
[00:15:11]Jordan: True.
[00:15:12]Darius: I don't know. I'm warming up, but I'm still holding out hope or not.
[00:15:16]Jordan: Because I'm about to say it's four months away. You know, they, I mean, they have to really do something drastic.
[00:15:22]Darius: And also, I hear you.
[00:15:26]Jordan: But then they when then you're betraying the fans, you're losing the fans trust and you look like a *****.
[00:15:32]Darius: Yeah, but I mean, who's going to be like, well, I ain't going to go see it now. You can, I mean, you could, one way you could get around that is moving it up, put it out in November. People are going to be happy to get it sooner. But I don't know how that works as far as their editing. But we want to move on to voice memos.
[00:15:48]Jordan: Yeah. Did you hear about that phenomenon or thing that happened? So this guy and this girl, they matched on Hinge. They went on a date and then she like asked him to come over. want to see if you want to come over and hang out. And he's like, he sent her a voice when he basically was like, Hey, I find you attractive and I appreciate the invite. But like, basically just like, I would like a physical relationship with you. And if that's not on the table, then there's really no need to go on a second date or there's no need for me to come over to your house. Basically. And of course, she screen recorded it and then posted on TikTok and it's like blowing up everywhere. And people are acting like he gave her an ultimatum and people are trying to use like certain language for what he would, you know what I mean?
[00:16:40]Darius: What gave him the impression nothing physical? Like, I don't know. How'd he get there? Like, if you go on a date and she texts you, do you want to come over? I don't know. How does he know that nothing physical is going to happen? Where's his? Where's he getting that impression?
[00:16:53]Jordan: No, I think he was just asking like, oh, is we going to ****? Yes, basically. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He basically was like, so before I come over, like, what is the expectation essentially? Or here's what I would like to happen and what is your expectation? And if that's not aligned, then maybe we should like call it.
[00:17:13]Darius: It's inelegant, certainly.
[00:17:16]Jordan: Right. Yes, of course. It's definitely in poor taste.
[00:17:20]Darius: And if it were, you know, my sister or niece or friend, female friend who told me that happened, that guy's not the guy, but I don't know if he did anything. Certainly nothing creepy. He just, you know.
[00:17:33]Jordan: Right.
[00:17:35]Darius: Distastefully straightforward.
[00:17:37]Jordan: Yes, yes. And yeah.
[00:17:39]Darius: Also. On a first date, what's wrong with just showing up and watching a movie? Like, I don't really.
[00:17:45]Jordan: Oh, no, they already had the first date. They had the first date. And then like, I don't know exactly the time frame, but I'm guessing it's like, let's say a week later. And she's like, hey, want to come over and hang out or want to come over? And then so he's like, what he said or what she said.
[00:17:58]Darius: I just don't, there's nothing wrong with what she did at all.
[00:18:01]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:18:01]Darius: But what's wrong with a second date? Just like, well, like, okay, well, one, I just put an overtly, are we going to ****? But like, there's nothing wrong with a second date not ending in sex. Like, I don't really.
[00:18:11]Jordan: No, for sure. 100%. I'm not saying you're saying that.
[00:18:14]Darius: I'm saying.
[00:18:14]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:18:16]Darius: What's his deal? Now that I think about this, I'm like, this guy's kind of weird.
[00:18:25]Jordan: Yeah, that's basically the discourse because like, okay, the problem is people are dragging it. Like a lot of people, not a lot, some people on social media were like, oh, This is predatory. He's this is coercion. He's that's an ultimatum. And it's like, okay, see, that's the problem here because you this guy was like being upfront. Yeah, correct. And it's like this, this guy was being upfront as opposed to a misunderstanding happening. And then we using other language to describe what may have what could have happened. You know what I'm saying? Like, I think that's really important. Also, like people say, like, I want communication. I want someone to be honest with me. And he was honest and he gave you direct communication. And consent was, involved and nothing happened. And then people are like bastardizing the interaction. And it's like, that's what makes things dating hard. That's what makes all this trickier because everyone's like, again, we've talked about this before. It's like everyone's like playing poker. It's like, have you ever talked to a girl? And she's like, so what are you looking for? And then you're like, well, what are you looking for? And then she's like, well, what are your intentions? And you're like, okay, I'm looking to date. And then she's like, but I want a relationship. I'm like, well, got a date to get to the relationship. But but they take that as, oh, you want something casual, you know what I'm saying? Like language matters and people because of **** like that, people can't properly process information.
[00:19:47]Darius: Yeah. I mean, there's a way you do anything. And I think it's kind of a cop to say people want you say you want honesty. Yeah, but like what he did, which is rude.
[00:19:58]Jordan: No, he was he was rude for sure. He was rude. And it was it was it was not gentlemanly behavior.
[00:20:04]Darius: It's like the people who are like, you know, I say it like it is or like people don't like honesty, right? Like there's a way you do anything.
[00:20:13]Jordan: No, for sure. There's a way to do that. Yeah.
[00:20:15]Darius: It's and it's also just okay if they're just not a good match, you know?
[00:20:19]Jordan: That's fine, too.
[00:20:20]Darius: It's entirely possible that he just doesn't like her, wasn't into it. And, you know, he didn't want to invest any actual, like, if he liked her, I doubt he does that. And so he's at the point where he's like, well, I will **** but I don't actually, I don't.
[00:20:37]Jordan: Want to date you. know, but that's possible. That's 100% probably what happened.
[00:20:43]Darius: I don't believe he sent that voice memo expecting positive feedback. I think he I think he just wanted to say, I don't want to come over in the rudest way possible. Okay.
[00:20:54]Jordan: You think he was burning the bridge? Okay.
[00:20:55]Darius: Correct. I don't believe again, I don't know him. Maybe he's just like extremely socially awkward. Correct. And just doesn't understand how human beings communicate. But his behavior is certainly bizarre.
[00:21:09]Jordan: Oh, for sure. Yeah.
[00:21:10]Darius: But also. In dating, man, sometimes you just, that was weird and you move on. Like, you keep that in the group chat and you laugh about it amongst your friends, but I don't know if it's screen recording him and making him a TikTok joke is really the appropriate go back for that.
[00:21:28]Jordan: Like, they're trying to like turn into like a Law and Order SVU thing. And it's like, I think he just was awkward. Worst case scenario, he's just awkward. Well, best case scenario, he was just awkward. Worst case scenario, he was trying to make her end it with him. I think that might have been what he was doing. Also, there's a better way to ask that question without just, I think you asked the question in a softer way and then don't give the if this then that at the end.
[00:21:57]Darius: You should just pull up and see where the night heads off. You really shouldn't be. So what are your expectations? Like, should I bring condoms or not? Like, no.
[00:22:06]Jordan: He's like, should I stop making these stops at the gas station? Yeah, you know, how?
[00:22:12]Darius: About just be a little chill, man? Show up, see where the night goes. Like, why are you, Why? You're a little too, as a very literal person, it is someone that likes checklists. It's a little much. It's a little much to be like, hey, before I come over, are we having sex? Because I need to know if I need to pick up this. It's like, man, I don't know. It's a second date, man.
[00:22:34]Jordan: He's like, do I need to go to Target or no?
[00:22:38]Darius: It's a, you know, like everyone needs to just have a little bit more finesse. You know, I believe.
[00:22:43]Jordan: Yes, I think finesse is important.
[00:22:45]Darius: I don't think he's a. Creeper. Certainly not coercion. You just asked. And when she said no, he didn't respond, I'm assuming, right? He didn't like berate her or anything, right?
[00:22:55]Jordan: No, I think it was just like, okay.
[00:22:58]Darius: All right, fair enough. Have a good night.
[00:23:00]Jordan: Yeah, man, I think that's not much else you can do in that situation.
[00:23:05]Darius: Certainly it's not a tactic I would recommend, but I don't think he did anything untoward beyond just being inelegant, Correct.
[00:23:12]Jordan: Yeah, I think there has to be space and something to be said for people just sometimes saying awkward **** without them being a creep. Like sometimes people just say weird ****. You know, I think I've actually had this conversation with like my women friends before. It's like, I don't think a lot of women understand that some men literally don't know how to talk to women. that's actually a real thing or they just get nervous and maybe they do and they just get nervous they like that girl whatever know I'm saying so like I've been you have like your internal monologue and you're like you're talking to a girl and you're like oh my god stop saying stupid **** like or like you know what I'm saying like we've all done it happens you know it doesn't make you the worst person in the world doesn't make you Ted Bundy it's just that I think everyone especially in the dating world needs to extend each other a little more grace when it comes to misunderstandings and things like that you know Like I saw this thing and this girl was like dating today so hard I think because it's become a performance. Yeah. We're like, this girl was talking about she on TikTok. She was like, I want to date with the guy at first date. And we were like texting afterwards and we had a conversation afterwards. And I was telling him like, I didn't feel like he really put a lot of effort because he wore shorts and because he I guess she talked about what they did that day and they both done a lot of **** that day. And she's like, I went home and showered and then I came on the date. He's like, oh, I didn't have time to go shower before I came, something like that, whatever. And she's like, I feel like he didn't put enough time into it, whatever. And everyone's like, okay, you clearly just don't like this dude. Yeah. And also, why did you sit through the whole date and go to like a second spot with him that night? If you had like, you know what I mean? It's stupid **** like that. Like you went along to get along, I guess, maybe, I don't know. Or you went through the story so you could tell it on social media and go viral to embarrass this guy. Cause that's what a lot of people do now too. It's also become a lot of content, which again is a performance element.
[00:25:02]Darius: You know, I think people, people look for like concrete explanations, but sometimes y'all just don't have the chemistry and it didn't work out.
[00:25:09]Jordan: That is, that is true.
[00:25:10]Darius: She went on, what happened is she went on that date. It was fine. Halfway through, she wasn't really feeling it and she gets home and she needs a reason. So she's like, I hated his shorts. And it's like, you just, more of these things fail to succeed. Like you're gonna go on 15 dates?
[00:25:30]Jordan: And 12 of them are gonna suck.
[00:25:31]Darius: Correct, correct. And those 3 blossom into whatever they blossom into. But like, it doesn't mean that those 12, someone did something wrong. Sometimes, maybe. But sometimes y'all just didn't get a, it wasn't the damn shorts. You just don't like him.
[00:25:44]Jordan: Yeah. And that's okay. Like people just need to be honest about that. Maybe don't say it like that to the person, obviously, because that's rude. But like, I've been on dates with people and it's like, it was a nice time and they were cool people, but I just like didn't feel anything or my mind wandered and I was like, damn, I would rather be my friends right now type ****. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like that happens. Like, but it doesn't mean they did anything wrong. It's not a a judgment on them. We just we just weren't compatible. And that's okay.
[00:26:10]Darius: Sometimes it just doesn't work out, man. Yeah. Ready for some prompts?
[00:26:15]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:26:16]Darius: So, generally speaking, do you consider yourself a lyrics guy or a music guy?
[00:26:22]Jordan: I think it depends on the genre.
[00:26:28]Darius: So let me do it.
[00:26:30]Jordan: Okay.
[00:26:32]Darius: Think of your absolute favorite songs. When you hear or recall them in your mind, what enters your head first? The words, like the literal words or the melody, the baseline, the words or the music? Like what drew you to it?
[00:26:47]Jordan: I'd say generally the words or a combination depending on the beat. Like some beats are just so iconic that you think of the beat before you think of the lyrics. But generally I'd say the words. Like Renegade is one of my favorite songs of all time. And The beat is simple. So it's really, it's the words that is the draw for the song, you know, the verses and the lyricism for that one. I think of like Hell of a Life from Beautiful Dust was fantasy like that. When I think of that song, I think of the guitar line, the guitar with the sample. Yeah, from I think it's Iron Man, I want to say, or ACDC. I think they did Iron Man, but you know, so in that song, it's the the music. So it really depends on the song. But generally speaking, I'd probably say the lyricism or the lyrics for me. That's always something that I really enjoy.
[00:27:38]Darius: The poet in you. Yeah. So like, hell of a life, right? Okay, so this is a good example. So It depends on the song. So like.
[00:27:50]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:27:51]Darius: So if hell of a life was sung in a different language, would you feel any less engaged with it or attached to it?
[00:27:57]Jordan: Okay.
[00:27:59]Darius: A language you obviously don't know.
[00:28:01]Jordan: Right, No, I think I still like the song because the beat is so crazy.
[00:28:05]Darius: But Renegade would be unrecognizable to you if it was.
[00:28:07]Jordan: No, yeah, that one I'd be, yeah, like I would be able to tell they were sliding, but I wouldn't, I'd be like, I don't know what the **** they saying, you know? Like we said with like Bad Bunny, he makes, his beats are always incredible. And even though I don't know what he's saying in all the songs, I love those songs.
[00:28:23]Darius: That's how I know I'm a lyrics guy because I can't do Bad Bunny's music at all. Really? I'm just like, that Super Bowl halftime show, I could appreciate it for what he was. And I clearly know he's jamming. But I'm just a lyrics guy, man. That's part of why I'm so disconnected from current hip hop is just, it's much more of a, it's a post-production thing now.
[00:28:43]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:28:44]Darius: And so, yeah, I just. I mean, obviously, I like beats to a certain extent. I go out, I understand there's different things, but.
[00:28:54]Jordan: Right.
[00:28:55]Darius: I'm a lyrics guy, man. That's why I just, I like rap and country music, because those are like the least instrumental, you know?
[00:29:04]Jordan: That actually explains, that makes a lot of sense. That makes sense for hearing that from you now, because I, okay, that actually pieces a lot of the puzzle together for me. That's interesting because like, so for me, I mean, I'm a poet. So obviously lyricism and writing is, you know, I love that. But I grew up in band and played instruments growing up and
