[00:00:00]Darius: Welcome to Out the Trunk with Jordan and Darius. My name is Darius. Steve's all up in the area on all socials.
[00:00:07]Jordan: And I'm Jordan. That's Jordy B writing on all socials.
[00:00:09]Darius: This is our What's on Our Minds segment. We kind of go around the pop culture universe, our other musings or observations throughout the week. We started off with Jordan. Was it Breezy Bowl? Was in Raleigh, North Carolina last night actually, dating it, dating the segment already. How was the show, man?
[00:00:30]Jordan: It was ******* fantastic. It was a lot of fun.
[00:00:33]Darius: Actually, it was a fantastic and a lot of fun. All right. We're good.
[00:00:36]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:00:38]Darius: Coming off the bat. All right.
[00:00:42]Jordan: Yeah, it was a four. Yeah, four hour show because of traffic. Yeah. So he had he has Bryson Tiller as the opener for all one of his openers for all the tours. And then he had he switches off with Summer Walker and Janae Aiko for certain dates. So last night was Janae's date. The traffic was absolutely insane. I'm sure you heard about that on the socials or whatever.
[00:01:07]Darius: I hadn't, but that's to be expected for a stadium show. Yeah. Raleigh does not have good transportation traffic infrastructure. So.
[00:01:16]Jordan: No, and they're getting lit up for that. So I, look, I'm like 10, 15 minutes from the arena. It took me The time I left my house, the time I got into the actual stadium, I think it was about two hours. So yeah.
[00:01:33]Darius: All stadium traffic.
[00:01:35]Jordan: Yeah. There was nothing else going on. Like literally, it was the point where the police were out there. Like they're everywhere, obviously all around the area. And like they had an intercom. They were like, parking at the arena is closed. Make a left in here to just parking at the fairgrounds. Yeah.
[00:01:52]Darius: Did you miss any of the show?
[00:01:54]Jordan: Yeah, I did actually. I saw all of Chris's set. I completely miss Bryson Taylor's set, which I was upset about because I'm a big Bryson Taylor fan. And he just dropped a dope double album. I've been spinning A lot.
[00:02:08]Darius: He does R&B, right.
[00:02:10]Jordan: Yeah. You know, don't or exchange. Those are two of his bigger ones. He sings the hook on, not the hook, but he sings on Wild Thoughts with Rihanna from the Khaled album.
[00:02:22]Darius: I already wasn't high on the new R&B guys, but we'll get to this later with D'Angelo passing.
[00:02:30]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:02:31]Darius: These new dudes stink. I'm tired of pretending to say anything other. Like they can't, these new dudes stink. And we're grading them on a curve because we want to listen to something, but they don't know if they're any good. Not Givion, not the mutt guy, not.
[00:02:46]Jordan: Bryson Tiller, Leon Thomas, you bugging. Leon Thomas, you bugging?
[00:02:49]Darius: They stink. They cannot write music. They write like Tiller got a pin. They half of them cannot sing.
[00:02:57]Jordan: You don't like Leon Thomas? I'm blown away by that.
[00:02:59]Darius: They all stink. We grade them on a curve. We grade them on a curve. Yeah, I just do it. It's terrible.
[00:03:05]Jordan: I can't believe this.
[00:03:06]Darius: What? We grade them on a curve because we just want something to be good. We just want some R&B to be good. So we grade them all on a curve. The guy from Britain is okay.
[00:03:17]Jordan: Guy from Britain.
[00:03:19]Darius: Who sings without you?
[00:03:21]Jordan: You mean Sam Smith?
[00:03:24]Darius: No. Hell no. Hell no.
[00:03:27]Jordan: Without you. I don't know who the **** that is. And I'm sure I know who it is. Lucky Day is really good. I don't know if you listen to him or not. He's really, really good. What?
[00:03:36]Darius: El-Min. E-L-M-I.
[00:03:39]Jordan: Oh, El-Min. Yeah, El-Min. Yeah, he's tough. He's incredible. He's up there for sure. I don't know why he's not bigger, actually. Yeah, he's incredible. Yes, I missed all of Taylor's set. I got walked in there towards the end of Janae's set. What I heard, she was really good, but I was like, I'm walking around, like walking around the arena to actually get inside. So I only heard her about two or three songs actually like watching her perform. Yeah, so she was good. And like, here's how you know, the **** was like super packed. Like I walk into the section And I look and I'm like, okay, I don't even think there's a seat wherever my seat is supposed to be. And there's like, the ushers and ****. And I was like, what do I do? And he's just like, just say anywhere you can find a seat, just wherever it's a free for all. Like, we don't care.
[00:04:28]Darius: I didn't, I didn't realize Chris Brown was a stadium artist. Is this some sort of special thing? Is it like, I don't?
[00:04:34]Jordan: What do you mean a special thing?
[00:04:35]Darius: Like, is this is, he always a stadium artist? Cause I could have sworn he was an arena artist before this tour.
[00:04:41]Jordan: I think he's been doing mostly arenas. I think before he launched this tour, he did some shows in, **** I can't remember what country he was in. I want to say it was either somewhere in the Caribbean or I think maybe somewhere actually, maybe in South Africa, I want to say. And it was like a big arena and it was, I think that was kind of almost like a short-term residency to prepare and practice for the actual arena tour that he's doing right now. So I think it is pretty new because he's, as far as I know, he's been doing just arenas as opposed to stadiums. But packing out a stadium by yourself with, I mean, Janae's big, but like they're not, you know, it's not like Kendrick's biased. It's not like Kendrick and Caesar, they're both Kendrick and Caesar are both up here. So like you could, they kind of need each other in a sense, but like to sell out an arena by yourself. or stadium rather by yourself is incredible. That **** was packed wall to wall, no pun intended. He comes out there, he came out there around, I want to say like 8, 8 30, something like that. And he literally did a 2 1/2 hour. He didn't do the **** where you just walking around and just holding the mic out for the fans. Like he had full choreography for every song. He had a DJ play in between sets and he'd come out and sing songs that were on the set list at times. Like he was, I don't know if you've seen any of the footage. He's like got on wires. He's up in the air flipping and ****. Like he was up near like the scoreboard damn near at one point. It was an incredible show.
[00:06:13]Darius: He's probably one of the last generations of artists that actually were developed and weren't just.
[00:06:18]Jordan: Literally, that's what I thought during the show.
[00:06:19]Darius: Found on YouTube and, you know, told they can sing and they can't.
[00:06:26]Jordan: His mic was on the entire time. It was him singing. I don't know how he had the energy to do that. Just with three straight hours. Like he was never a horse. He sang every word at points. He was singing acapella.
[00:06:38]Darius: What was his opening song?
[00:06:42]Jordan: What was it? I think it was a, I want to say it was party.
[00:06:45]Darius: All right. What was his closing song?
[00:06:48]Jordan: He closed with, what was the song from the Double Mc commercial? Forever.
[00:06:55]Darius: Oh.
[00:06:57]Jordan: Yeah, the one from the office scene.
[00:06:59]Darius: Very, very stadium. Yes, Did what song was your favorite song and which song got the biggest pop?
[00:07:10]Jordan: My favorite song he performed. I would probably say. I'd probably say, I mean, I got to go with the classic, Yo, excuse me, miss. I mean, that's Time Lewis. That's, you know, one of the songs he, that, you know, he popped off with. So that one probably was my favorite song that he performed. And then the song that everybody Like the second that he started singing it, everybody went nuts was residuals because that was the one song that went viral where he has the mic come down from like from above and he's just standing there, no choreography, just straight singing in the mic. Old school ****.
[00:07:48]Darius: I have honestly never heard that song. Is it? I would take all them with me or is.
[00:08:00]Jordan: It's like, tell me who who's getting all my love? Who's getting all my time?
[00:08:05]Darius: I mean, I'd play it, but we probably couldn't even post it.
[00:08:08]Jordan: I see the licensing and ****. Yeah.
[00:08:13]Darius: But yeah, I'm certain I have. I just don't. I haven't listened to new Chris Brown and probably since the CD with the CD, damn, dating myself, the album with AO on it.
[00:08:30]Jordan: Was that fan of a fan with Tiger? I want to say.
[00:08:33]Darius: Last full length project of his I listened to.
[00:08:37]Jordan: It's funny you bring that up because I've actually I was hanging out with some friends at a kickback a couple of weeks ago and we were talking I think the one just in terms of just we're talking just music here obviously the one biggest knock on Chris Brown is that he doesn't have like a classic album. Yeah, is and that's and we've talked about it's like because he's so He kind of sorting depends on the terms of like adapting to the streaming era where he started doing the double albums like 5, 6, seven years ago.
[00:09:05]Darius: What's out? Hold on. He has. Hold on. Which one? Which one has damage on it? Did he play damage, by the way? Yeah, he did. He did. Exclusive is a classic. I think so.
[00:09:16]Jordan: Yeah, I'd say exclusive or I'm not gonna hold you. Fame was fire. Like that album was incredible.
[00:09:22]Darius: One would look at me now on it.
[00:09:24]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:09:25]Darius: Look at me now. Or wet the bed. She ain't you. Yeah.
[00:09:34]Jordan: Deuces.
[00:09:35]Darius: Deuces.
[00:09:37]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:09:37]Darius: I mean, I have to revisit it. I labeled it a classic. She ain't you.
[00:09:41]Jordan: No ********. Yeah. That album was fire.
[00:09:44]Darius: At the worst, you got 7 hits. I just.
[00:09:48]Jordan: Oh yeah, sure. So I'm just saying like in terms of no skips.
[00:09:54]Darius: Yeah, I haven't listened to it in a while to say that there's no skips.
[00:09:57]Jordan: Yeah, that's all I mean. Like I'd say to be have a for a classic album, you got to like one skip maximum. And that's what I mean. I say that because even his first album and his second album, what was the second album title was that was exclusive, right?
[00:10:11]Darius: Yeah. Yeah. It's I think the first time first time was self-titled and then exclusive. Yeah. So I mean, you have to understand that. I mean, Chris and I are probably the same age. So when he pops He's doing a lot of teen pop, a lot of girlfriendly music. And I'm super tough, only listened to rap guy, teenager at the time. So I really wasn't checking for a lot of his stuff.
[00:10:34]Jordan: Okay.
[00:10:35]Darius: So, yeah, I would have to revisit it, but I did like a lot of his music. And yeah, for sure.
[00:10:42]Jordan: Absolutely.
[00:10:43]Darius: But I mean, he just did a 2 1/2 hour set.
[00:10:46]Jordan: Yeah. And it's usually 3 hours, but I think because it's probably whatever she just runs late sometimes, it would have been a three hour set. But for me, I was in, I think I was in 8th grade when he, when he, when he broke through. So I was before like being tough was super, super important at that time period. So I think like pop in and run it was like, were super huge. And so we all love those songs. And that was also like the Crump era too. Like, you know, so he kind of came right, like right on the cusp of that like R&B rap fusion time period. But no, this dude has some ******* heads. Like I know that that's obviously like obvious, but the fact that he like did sets where it was like, I'm gonna do like my intro, my introspective like R&B set for like 30 minutes. Then he did like the pop EDM era for like 30 minutes. He did, you know, the **** for the girls, obviously. He did the thing where he brought a girl on stage.
[00:11:40]Darius: There was couch out. people were saying he could, who he would row against. And he said, listen, man, I would win with just my features. Like, I got, like, just my features, I could win a versus. Like, honestly, the platform is beneath my catalog.
[00:11:58]Jordan: It really is.
[00:12:00]Darius: Yeah, some people, yeah, because it's like your top 20 songs, but I got 100. That's most people's whole career. So you can't really. I'd have to be up against somebody with a deeper catalog to really get there because my top 20 is not correct my second pair of 20 and I got three different verses without repeats so.
[00:12:19]Jordan: Exactly I think the only person in terms of just like depth of music that he that he could that would compete with him in the verses is Drake because they both release music at such a rapid rate.
[00:12:30]Darius: Yeah that at least do two different the only one true that's true too you have to the well the thing of verses was you were pitting people who are thematically similar. And so I don't think that, I mean, you have to do, I mean, that's, he was in a weird lane where there, he didn't really have any peers. We just kind of, we had Usher for a while, then Usher called off and sort of handed him the baton.
[00:12:56]Jordan: The crown.
[00:12:57]Darius: And then, I mean, everyone else has stunk since then. So, you know, I.
[00:13:07]Jordan: She really is the last R&B star of our era because, even the guys like maybe that you're not big fans of, they either can't sing live or they can't dance or they don't do interviews or they don't drop music often. they all have one like, but they don't do this kind of thing about them. And he does everything. He checks all the boxes. which again goes back to label development or artist development and labels actually taking time to put into an artist, which just doesn't exist anymore.
[00:13:40]Darius: I mean, he's just, he's just an old school superstar.
[00:13:43]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:13:43]Darius: Like we, they didn't, they don't make a lot of them. And, you know, there was no Chris Brown before Chris Brown either. So it's hard to really compare the guys.
[00:13:52]Jordan: Yeah. Mario had a run for a little bit. I think. I mean, that's, I mean, B2K was big, obviously, but They're a group.
[00:14:00]Darius: It's just a different thing. It's just, no one. He's just, he was in a.
[00:14:04]Jordan: He's in a class of his own.
[00:14:06]Darius: In a class of his own. I mean, he was a pop star, an R&B singer.
[00:14:10]Jordan: He can rap.
[00:14:13]Darius: He's a pop star.
[00:14:15]Jordan: Well, it's comparative to other R&B artists. And he's better than some rappers. I'm not even going to hold you like.
[00:14:24]Darius: He put on a great show. I was kind of upset. I didn't, I mean, I wouldn't, I'm not a go to a Chris Brown concert type dude, but was it a solo move or did you meet people there or how'd you do that?
[00:14:36]Jordan: Yeah, I tried to get with some friends and sit with them, but on it, like, it was so packed. There was just no way to get. to them or get a ticket near them. Yeah, by the way, Ticketmaster, y'all got to fix y'all **** because they would be like, oh, the price of this section is like 250. Cool. I'm about to buy the ticket. It goes up to 700. Okay. How'd that happen? And then Ticketmaster, I don't know if it crashed or what the **** happened the other day, but I know people who had a hard time actually getting the ticket itself. So I had to go through StubHub. But yeah, pretty much everybody I knew was there. Everybody was all over the arena. So it was kind of hard to to coordinate, but I got up with a couple of people after the show to hang out. So that was fun.
[00:15:19]Darius: Did I go out or just kept it local?
[00:15:22]Jordan: Yeah, just kept it local because I mean, we it was basically midnight by the time anyone got out of the traffic. So I just went to a bottle down the street and just hung out there because I left the show a little bit early. I left towards the middle of the his last song. So I got I still had crazy traffic, but it wasn't as bad as other people. I knew people who sat in there for like an hour before they even got out of the, arena pretty much. Even at the bar, like it was empty and then it got full because everybody that left the Chris Brown show wanted to go do something after the show.
[00:15:54]Darius: There's a bar across the street that happens all the time after the show. It's People wait, either come in there for a drink to wait out the traffic or just, that's really what they do. It's like, if I want to sit for an hour in my car or sit for an hour at the bar across the street, I might as well just be at the bar across the street.
[00:16:11]Jordan: Correct. Yeah.
[00:16:12]Darius: There's food, drinks in a bathroom. Yeah.
[00:16:15]Jordan: I literally didn't think about that till afterwards. I literally was sitting at the bar after the show and I was like, **** I should have went there. And then one of the girls we know that works there posted like, hey, come through if you're going to go to the show. And I was like, I wish I'd seen this 5 hours ago.
[00:16:30]Darius: The. No, that's really all I had. That was all my questions. Is there anything else about the show? Why to do Raleigh not Charlotte?
[00:16:44]Jordan: I don't know. Yeah, that I don't know. I wonder, I mean, maybe something with like, I don't know the traffic in Charlotte with that level of crowd. I don't even know how that would have been feasible to get.
[00:16:56]Darius: I mean, that ain't his problem to deal with.
[00:16:58]Jordan: No, I know.
[00:16:59]Darius: I mean, it's probably those booking those things. Did the Panthers play at home yesterday Sunday.
[00:17:07]Jordan: That might have been it. That's that might have been it.
[00:17:09]Darius: I mean, if that's the case, then that's probably the issue.
[00:17:12]Jordan: Yeah, they probably I want to say they were at home. Right. Not with that set up. No, not with that set up. Absolutely not.
[00:17:22]Darius: Yep, that's the issue. Seven day, October 12th, the Panthers were at home. So because of that, Raleigh got Chris Brown.
[00:17:28]Jordan: Yep. I would say like, honestly, the one thing I thought most when I was watching the show, well, first of all, it was a like great spectacle. It was everything you would want to see at a, you know, a star of his caliber put on that kind of show. Honestly, the more I thought was just all I thought the thought that went through my mind the most was I can't imagine how many hours like they spent like doing the choreography and everything because there's literally outfit changes for like damn near every 3, 4, 5 songs. You know, he's not in he's not in the back for 30, 45 minutes like some artists do, you know. He's got the wires and **** that he's wearing. He's got, he was wearing like a LED, LED shoulder pads that would change designs and logo based on the song. And you know, he had the stages that were lit up with the LED ****. And I just, I would have paid to see like just the rehearsals and just kind of how they put together what they're going to do for what song and things of that nature just as the, you know, creative. But yeah, man, I like that show. we're in the age now where a lot of the people we grew up with are retiring or not as great as they used to be. And it's just great to see somebody that we grew up with still be at the top of their game 20 years later.
[00:18:43]Darius: Yeah. I mean, he's I am 40. So I mean, his musical output has gotten worse, but that's just, you know, the top doesn't last forever. Pause. And so, I mean, he could. I mean, the money's probably good. If he's doing stadiums, he could probably, take a couple years off, do it again with the same exact set and people would still show us. So yeah, add a couple of new songs here and there. But I mean, Usher just toured last year. It was arenas, not stadiums. And it was all, I mean, he dropped an album and none of those songs even made the set list.
[00:19:16]Jordan: Oh, good, because that album was trash.
[00:19:18]Darius: And I love Usher.
[00:19:19]Jordan: The album sucked. It broke my heart for the album to be so bad the day of his Super Bowl.
[00:19:24]Darius: That followed by that I thought was quite mediocre Super Bowl halftime show performance, but you went, I mean, he went on tour after that and sold out every show. So I heard that my sister went to see him in Charlotte and said it was fantastic. So I would have loved to have.
[00:19:42]Jordan: Went to the Vegas residency, but you know, I'm sure that was a crazy, crazy ticket price.
[00:19:49]Darius: Yeah, it was. Any closing remarks on this concert? Would you recommend other people to go? I mean, that's an obvious question at this point.
[00:19:56]Jordan: But yeah, I would say a 10 out of 10 would recommend worth every penny. There's not a dull moment. There's no point where you like, are like, damn, I kind of want to kind of want to head out. Like, if you even thought about like stepping towards the stairs, he was going to play another song that you wanted to hear. And that's the best way to describe.
[00:20:17]Darius: Did you know all the songs that he played?
[00:20:19]Jordan: Pretty much. I think there was maybe three or four that I didn't know because he played some like old mixtape ****. That's pretty much it. Yeah, I guess just by osmosis, I'm like, just, I mean, he's been around for 20 years. So, you know, you just naturally hear his ****. But yeah, I mean, I enjoy his music. I do wish he would make it like a concise album. Just I feel like he deserves to give the fans that. And also he deserves to have that. recognition, just selfishly I like to see, I like to see the greats, have their moment in the sun and obviously he's never gonna be able to do a Super Bowl halftime show. So I feel like him having that classic, like classic, classic timeless album would be a great feather in his cap.
[00:21:07]Darius: You never know, man. America loves a redemption story. So don't take the Super Bowl off the table for him.
[00:21:14]Jordan: Well, yeah, he would be fantastic. It would be goated for sure. Like that would be incredible.
[00:21:18]Darius: The elephant in the room we haven't talked about was 15 years ago. And so you add another 5, 10. He's still not even 50 years old. I mean, that's not that's not too old to do a Super Bowl. So that's true. It's not completely off the table.
[00:21:32]Jordan: It is true.
[00:21:33]Darius: But did you see The teacher tweet about the student, or I guess it was a TikTok that I honestly didn't even watch the original TikTok because I don't even have TikTok. Did you see what happened?
[00:21:48]Jordan: No, what happened?
[00:21:49]Darius: So a teacher had, I think it's called a Funko Pop.
[00:21:55]Jordan: Okay, what's that?
[00:21:56]Darius: So it's like a doll. We'll just say a doll for the sake of the question.
[00:21:59]Jordan: Oh, like a Lubooboo.
[00:22:01]Darius: A doll. It was like a Hello Kitty doll. that she had on her desk and it came up missing.
[00:22:09]Jordan: Okay.
[00:22:09]Darius: And she kind of knew who took it, but didn't, And so she was like, you bring it back, no harm, no foul. And she gave them like a month to bring it back. And so she finally, per the TikTok, although this is mixed on if she ever actually did, ended up calling the police or filing a police report. You don't actually call 911. Okay.
[00:22:31]Jordan: About to say, that's kind of stupid.
[00:22:34]Darius: And there was two sides of the coin, one side saying, don't call the police. And that's, it's overly carceral. Apparently the doll was a gift to her. And the gift, it's kind of like Jordans where you the retail prices and what it actually what it's actually worth. So like, it was like a 30, like it retails for $30, but you actually, if you wanted to buy one, would have to pay like $300. Cause it's like something, it's like how Js are sometimes. Not so much.
[00:23:04]Jordan: Crazy demand. Right.
[00:23:06]Darius: And there's like a goat or stock X for these things. And so long story short, retail 20, it's like $300 in actual value. And so she files a police report and like, you know, the pink haired progressives are like, you're reaching for carceral solutions to da, da, da, da, da. First of all, these are not even, these are teenagers. She teaches high school, high school seniors. And other people were like, just don't steal. Like this is don't take things that don't belong to you.
[00:23:39]Jordan: So I heard that in the Bible somewhere, I think.
[00:23:41]Darius: I think it's one of the commandments. Thoughts. I'm just going to ask you the annoying athlete question. What are your thoughts?
[00:23:50]Jordan: What are my thoughts? Both teams played hard, man. No, I don't know. I mean, Just off the rip, hearing that they filed a police report does seem excessive, but based on the price of the doll or whatever, trinket, if she did give them a month, turn it in, no harm, no foul, they could have dropped it on the desk like at lunch and she would never know who it was. I mean, I'm okay with it and here's why I'm gonna say I'm okay with it. They're high school seniors, so they're about to be legally adults and at a certain point, it's not just like silly hijinks anymore. Once you become 18, your actions really do have consequences and stealing is one of those things that does have actionable consequences. And I mean, if you'll steal from someone that you know, that you see that is literally trying to impact your life on a daily basis, it's hard to say you won't steal from a stranger or a store. My first thought was or a jeweler.
[00:24:52]Darius: My first thought was As bad as we were, we didn't steal from the teachers. That's just low.
[00:24:57]Jordan: Yeah, steal from the teacher. It's no, it's actually a little sociopathic. I'm not going to.
[00:25:01]Darius: This is trifling.
[00:25:02]Jordan: And they don't get paid enough already.
[00:25:07]Darius: Yeah, I don't expect the teenager to contextualize that part, but the thing is, and I know this sounds dramatic, but Strong, like strong crimes, violent crimes.
[00:25:25]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:25:26]Darius: Larger crimes start with petty crimes, right? True. And no one starts off with armed robbers, right? It's like, that's the first crime. Right. And so what happens is you commit a bunch of petty crimes, small crimes, and you become emboldened because you suffer no consequences for them, because our legal system more or less just does not prosecute low level crime anymore. And so what do you expect this teacher to do? She's given them a month to turn it back in. Yeah, I'm filling in the blanks here, but I'm certain that she's probably called a parent or two to no avail. That part, I don't know for sure. That's me editorializing. And it's like, I don't know, calling the police. I don't, literally the only time I've ever called the police was for an insurance report. Like I literally needed to call, I needed a report for my insurance. I am not someone who's inclined to call the police. But someone stole her **** and like, I don't, I'm not gonna sit up here and wag my finger at her when her property was stolen. And you don't get to choose how someone reacts to you stealing their ****.
[00:26:43]Jordan: So you do **** to them. Yeah.
[00:26:45]Darius: She was minding her business. Then I saw people was like, well, you know, like I tell my kids don't bring valuables to school because they might get stolen. So why didn't she think that? And it's like, I just refuse to cede the public space to the Like I'm not just going to accept that we all have to bend our behavior because someone might.
[00:27:05]Jordan: To criminals. Yeah.
[00:27:08]Darius: Like no, we remove criminals from society so that we can be normal.
[00:27:12]Jordan: And not to like dramatize us obviously, but that sounds a lot like don't wear a dress, don't wear a short skirt, like that kind of ****.
[00:27:19]Darius: Correct. It's like you don't cede the public square to the antisocial people. You're the antisocial people from the public square. I should be able to wear what I want, bring what I want, put whatever I want on my desk because it's not yours. Correct.
[00:27:34]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:27:35]Darius: You know it's not yours.
[00:27:36]Jordan: It's like you don't stop eating sweet foods to keep the ants at your house. You get repellent to keep the ants away.
[00:27:42]Darius: Correct. Like you don't, like they knew it was not theirs. And you don't take things that don't belong to you.
[00:27:51]Jordan: And I'm gonna assume the teacher was like, yo, this thing means a lot to me. Can somebody please just give it back?
[00:27:55]Darius: Correct. You know, The old, I'm going to go to the bathroom. If it's on my desk when I get back, I'll never bring it up.
[00:28:01]Jordan: Yeah, no harm, no foul.
[00:28:02]Darius: You know, like we, it just, I don't, I can't, listen, I'm not like, first of all, The teacher was black, right?
[00:28:15]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:28:16]Darius: But for obvious reasons, making a TikTok, she didn't give any character, identifying characteristics of the students because, you know. And so everyone was like, you called the police on a black child. No one even said the child was black. You heard thief and thought that. That's racist in and of itself that you just assumed the thief was black.
[00:28:33]Jordan: Literally. Stop locking the black kids up.
[00:28:36]Darius: Yeah, it was like, wait a minute.
[00:28:38]Jordan: No one said the child was black. Yeah.
[00:28:41]Darius: And first of all, if it's a Funko Pop, we don't even know what those are. That might have been a one.
[00:28:46]Jordan: I also don't. I'm about to Google that right now because I don't know what the hell that is.
[00:28:50]Darius: No, listen, I am not inclined to call.
[00:28:52]Jordan: Oh, I've seen those. I didn't know what they were called.
[00:28:56]Darius: Okay. I am not inclined to call the police. But I'm not going to. If you know if she called a parent. That's probably would have been, if I was a teacher, that probably would have been the route I took. Cause I was following another teacher on Twitter and she was like, one of the students like through one of my, I think it's like a male teacher and one of the, one of his students threw his phone out the window and broke it. And he called, yeah. And he called the parents and was like, I'm gonna send you an invoice. Either you can pay it or we can go to small claims court. And she was like, the parents paid that invoice. And like, hey, you know.
[00:29:32]Jordan: That's some crazy ****. It'd be **** like that where when I see like a teacher hit a student, I'm like, they probably had it coming.
[00:29:40]Darius: Right. And not to say I co-sign teachers hitting students, but.
[00:29:43]Jordan: No, of course.
[00:29:46]Darius: It's just like teachers are people too and they have things that they want to and they can feel violated too. And we are a nation of laws. And while I would not have called the police on it, something of I mean, $300 is not, I wouldn't call it significant value, but it ain't $0. It ain't like they stole her favorite pencil, like, I'm not finna wag my finger at her for, she's probably fed up. She probably is really disappointed in them because she gave them the opportunity to return it. Correct. And they did it. And what do you want her to do? Just people were like, well, you need to just hold that L. And I'm like, that's not the world I want to limit it.
[00:30:27]Jordan: First of all, teaching financially is already holding an L, number one. Number 2, the **** that's in those classrooms that the kids use for free every day, the teachers probably bought those nine times out of 10. So to justify stealing valuable **** from a teacher, there's just no good way. That's just wrong to me.
[00:30:45]Darius: It's just, I refuse to cede public spaces to the antisocial. some like progressive anti-carceral. Like I am not, I don't want the child dragged out to Angola. But like, that's not what the cops are gonna do. You file a police report, you do a little scared straight, like you let them know.
[00:31:04]Jordan: You give it back to them, maybe you get like a week's attention or something.
[00:31:07]Darius: Yeah, like, you know.
[00:31:08]Jordan: ISS, whatever.
[00:31:09]Darius: Let the parents pay it back, something. Like, no, it's okay to put a little fear in these kids. These weren't 5 year olds. The real world, right around the corner. Yeah. And it's time to learn that there are consequences for the things you do. Because if you get away with stealing a doll, the next week it's someone's watch, the next week it could be someone's car because no one's ever told you this is wrong. People have told you it's wrong, but they haven't showed you it can, like what?
[00:31:38]Jordan: Can happen when you do wrong things. And so.
