Best Questions

  • What does your top-10 television list say about you?
  • Which show deserves a much larger audience than it received?
  • What is the greatest television finale of all time?
  • Do fairytale endings matter, or does an ending only need to make sense?
  • What exactly went wrong with Game of Thrones?

  • Are modern male body-image expectations becoming unrealistic?
  • How much of online fitness culture is staged, enhanced, or misleading?
  • Are short men judged unfairly in modern dating?
  • What medical advancement have you recently found fascinating?

Best Observations

  • Some great shows missed the monoculture era and therefore never became universally recognized classics.
  • Limited series and one-season productions should be judged differently from shows that sustain stories across many years.
  • Great finales are rare because writers often know how to start a story but struggle to land the plane.
  • Audiences can accept an unhappy ending when the writing remains consistent with the characters.
  • The actors who established male body ideals often suffered from the same body-image pressures themselves.
  • Many social-media physiques are influenced by steroids, lighting, camera quality, angles, and post-workout pumps.
  • People compare ordinary bodies to images created by an entire industry designed to make bodies look exceptional.
  • Aging is natural, but the internet increasingly treats visible aging as failure.
  • Medical progress should also be measured in additional healthy years, birthdays, and family milestones.
  • Entertainment rankings stop being fun when viewers treat personal taste as proof of intelligence.

Best Debate

Are modern male body-image expectations becoming as unrealistic as those historically imposed on women? Jordan argued that men increasingly face pressure around height, physique, and features that cannot always be changed naturally. Darius emphasized how Hollywood, steroids, fitness influencers, camera techniques, and social media create impossible standards for younger men. Both agreed that much of what audiences see online is not an honest representation of reality.

[00:00:01]JordanI would like to apologize for my video quality, guys. The lighting in this room is not great. I'm on the road for a business trip. And I've been ripping around all day for work. And like I literally got into me, I was like, where are you?
[00:00:11]DariusGo ahead, brush your shoulders off, man. We, you a big dog now, you on business trips?
[00:00:15]JordanYeah, I'm on business trips. She don't want a puppy, she want a big dog.
[00:00:21]DariusGo ahead and brush your shoulders off for the people, man. Congratulations. Welcome to Out the Trunk with Jordan and Darius. My name is Darius. That's Steve's all up in the area on all socials.
[00:00:31]JordanAnd I'm Jordan. Is Jordan to be riding on all socials?
[00:00:34]DariusThis is our What's On Our Minds segment, our weekly conversation about what's on our mind, what we've seen on the internet, what's going on. And I'd start with the viral New York Times top 10 TV shows thing that literally everyone has done. And so I figured it was a good way to start off a conversation with the quick talking points. So we're going to put our top 10 list on the screen here for the audience to follow along. So what were your top 10, man? Top 10. Keep in mind, it's the 21st century listeners. So Martin and Living Single and Seinfeld and Friends. Yes, that 21st Friends.
[00:01:11]JordanNone of those are available. It was all after the year 2000 guys. We are not stupid.
[00:01:16]DariusYes. Just, you know, Sopranos started in 99, Sex and the City started in the late nineties. Yeah. So correct. With that being said, what were your top ten?
[00:01:30]JordanAll right. So my top ten are. Did you rank yours or you just went? I just went. OK, cool. OK, so my top ten is Psych, The Big Bang Theory, the US Office version or the Office US version of The Office. How to Get Away with Murder, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, Insecure, Modern Family, Scandal, and Dexter.
[00:01:55]DariusAll right, we had two overlaps.
[00:01:58]JordanOkay.
[00:02:01]DariusI went with The Shield, Criminally Underrated, Breaking Bad, Insecure, Game of Thrones, The Americans, The Wire, House MD, Mad Men, 24, and six feet under another currently in underrated TV show. So what was what was your favorite one?
[00:02:25]JordanOh, that's tough. My favorite of these shows. Hmm. I'd have to go with stuff because there's like five I can look that I can make a case for. I'd say my favorite. I'm going to go with Psych. It's funny, it's innovative, it's got serious and heartfelt moments. It's a murder mystery, which I love. It's got kind of a Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson feel, the dynamic between Dulay Hill and James Rodriguez. One of the great one-two punches of all time in sitcom history, if you ask me. The running gags on the show are legendary. They're super unique. Instead of saying like, don't be ridiculous, they'd say like, don't be, and then something crazily ridiculous, like don't be Beverly Hills Cop 3 or something like, **** like that. Like it was always really cool, unique and funny. Yeah, that's probably my favorite show. I've rewatched it the most. And yeah, just it's one of those shows where you hope you love the show so much. You hope the cast are still friends after the show's done.
[00:03:27]DariusYeah.
[00:03:27]JordanAnd they actually are all still friends.
[00:03:30]DariusWhat do you think your top 10 list says about you?
[00:03:34]JordanOh, that's a good question. It says I have a pretty eclectic taste in entertainment, for sure. I love comedy. There's that thing that most serial killers are Virgos. I'm not big into the signs, but my favorite shows in here would not debunk that theory. I'll put it like that. I do have a fascination with crime and true crime and stuff like that. Hence, you know, Dexter, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, for sure, and obviously Game of Thrones, there's murder, that's the whole show. I think the my slate of shows shows that I do. I love ensembles. So I love shows that are centered around friendship and great cast, great chemistry. All these shows have great character development, like extremely well done character arcs. So I love a good story. I mean, it sounds cliche, but I do genuinely love a good story. I think it says I'm a pretty complex individual, so I'm drawn to complex characters.
[00:04:39]DariusOkay. I'm blanking on a question. You have any questions for me?
[00:04:50]JordanSame question. I mean, I know it's not creative to ask it back, but that is I do. I was wondering, like, what does what do your show say about you?
[00:05:00]DariusI lack for whimsy, that's for certain. Every last one of these shows is very serious and very dark. Certainly could use a little, is it levity or no, brevity is short. Levity, I think is.
[00:05:13]JordanLevity is like, that's what I was looking for.
[00:05:15]DariusYeah, yeah, you know, I mean, House MD, you know, there was some comedy in there despite, you know, the, yeah, there's not, Insecure had some comedy, but no, there's no like straightforward comedy in here at all. And so my favorite is The Liar. That's the greatest show of all time. That's not even really, most people wouldn't even debate that. And so you almost have to start with what's #2 and then probably Mad Men. Yeah, I would go Mad Men.
[00:05:50]JordanI'm not going to say it on this pod.
[00:05:51]DariusWhat did you say?
[00:05:52]JordanIt was a joke that I wouldn't say so bad, but I'm not going to say it on this pod.
[00:05:56]DariusI don't know.
[00:05:57]JordanIt circles back to our conversation Saturday night at the bar.
[00:06:05]DariusOkay, fair enough. No, yeah, certainly lacking for some levity. But you know, a top 10 can only have 10. But no, I don't really watch a lot of comedies. Even to the extent that I do, they're all from the 90s. And like we said, they don't count here. Right. But even then, like, I almost put sitcoms in a different thing than like, okay, drama. Like to me, like, I don't mean this. There's no way to say this. Like, these are like the grown up shows and like sitcoms are like for a different mindset. And so I would put those. It's almost like they like the list bothers me.
[00:06:47]JordanThey're low stakes.
[00:06:49]DariusYeah, it doesn't let bother me for a few things. It's like it had a couple of one season shows on there and I just don't think I talked. Yep. Like Station 11 was an amazing show, but like how many great shows? How many good shows would be great if they can densed it all down to 10 hours, you know, like it's.
[00:07:08]JordanEvery show would be the best show ever.
[00:07:09]DariusYeah, Chernobyl, Station 11, Watchmen, like they did. It's just, they're just doing two different things, you know, Correct.
[00:07:19]JordanIt's funny you bring that up because I was going to put American Crime Story because they do the monster series, like the serial killer series. They did one on, what's his name? Ed Negan. I can't forget his name. They did one on Jeffrey Dahmer. That was really, really good. And then there was, they did the OJ story as well as the assassination of Versace. And those two seasons were otherworldly. They were incredible. But I was like, they each came up as their own separate show. So I was like, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna do that.
[00:07:49]DariusIt's cheating. I just think that, you know, how many shows like Lost came out and like, but if you, if Lost was able to just do three seasons, it would just be so much better than if it's had spin its wheel for six seasons. So let me ask you this. If the one show on your list that you feel like not enough people have seen and if you could make everybody watch it, what would it be?
[00:08:17]JordanOkay. I feel these are pretty mainstream shows. I'd either have to go with Psych or Dexter because so Psych was on US. It was just not a huge network. It's basic cable, you know, so that I don't know how many people saw it. It kind of feels like one of those shows that like you love that you don't know if anyone else has seen really, I feel.
[00:08:40]DariusLike most people know that as a show that came on after Suits. I don't really think a lot of people. Right, exactly.
[00:08:45]JordanYeah.
[00:08:46]DariusThat's what I know. I was Googling it when you said it.
[00:08:49]JordanCause like growing up, it was, it was, you know, it was Suits, it was Monk, and it was, it was Psych. And I feel like it was kind of sandwiched in between those two shows. So I don't know. It has a huge following, of course, but I don't, I feel like it never got the full, you know, appreciation that it deserved or recognition that it deserved. I'd say Dexter too. Like Dexter was a ******* phenomenal show. It was really funny, really dark. It was a great character study. It kind of it sort of preceded a lot of the true crime stuff we watch nowadays, you know, with like the confession tapes that Netflix does and all that kind of stuff. So I'd say Dexter and Psych for sure.
[00:09:26]DariusOkay. For me, That's a tough to pick one. But if I had to pick one, it would be the Americans. It's a close, but I would go with the Americans because I believe that that show came out after monoculture. Like all the other shows on my list came out when we all watched the same thing. And now everyone's attention is fractured. And I just feel like if the Americans had come out five years earlier, it would be considered a Pantheon show. two under deep cover Russian spies living in DC and they just go out on spy missions. And it's really honestly about it's a family show. It's about them raising kids as spies. And I just feel like that's one of the best shows ever. And it's never going to be considered that because, you know, it came out after everyone's attention fractured. Yeah. So yeah, that one. And then If I had to pick a #2, it would be 6 feet under. HBO show came out in the early 2000s before everybody had HBO. So I think a lot of people just finished that one. Basically, it's a family owned funeral home and each episode starts with the death and like they're charged with like getting the body ready for the funeral. But the show is really about the family and managing the business. Okay. And so, you know, there's The dad dies in the first episode, spoiler alert. So the sons have to run the business and you're dealing with the, mom, the widow's grief and the daughter growing up and then the two sons trying to run a business that, they may not, it may not have been what they wanted to do with their lives. So that one would be #2 on the list. And it honestly, it had the greatest season series finale ever. It went off the air 20 years ago, so I can spoil it. Basically, Because every episode of the show starts with a death. The last montage is how all the main characters died in their lives. So it was like, oh, you see one of the characters, actually a dude from Dexter. This was the show he did before that, Michael Hall.
[00:11:38]JordanOh, okay.
[00:11:39]DariusAnd so that's how I got Dexter, basically. More or less, yeah. And so like, basically the daughter who's the youngest is like driving down the road and it's just a montage of flash forwards of how all the characters end up dying. And so, the Dexter character, he was gay in the show, but his boyfriend then husband was like, they flash forward to him. He's a cop in the show, but fast forward to him in the future. And he's like an elderly man working security and someone like robs his Brinks truck and kills him. And then you see his name and his that he died. And then it goes to Michael C. Hall. And one of the coolest moments of the show is his last moments, he just had like a picnic with his family. And like his last moments of live alive is he sees his husband, like young and youthful one last time, and then he collapsed and dies. And like, this is all the final montage of the show because a big part of the writing of the show was them navigating being like just gay dudes. And, you know, this is the early 2000s. And getting married and, the, just like any relationship, them getting married, him coming out to his mom, do they want kids, so on and so forth. And him being a cop and all that goes into that hyper masculine workforce. And so, I thought it's really touching when you see that final montage and you see like, you know, he sees his husband who died 10 years ago, based when you do the math, young and youthful one last time. And so I thought that to me, that's like the, When people talk about great endings, you always see Six Feet Under up there because it's hard to land the plane. I don't rate, I don't judge people for bad endings. I think it's just really hard to land the plane, but this one did it well.
[00:13:28]JordanOkay, you actually pivoted right into my next question. I was gonna ask you, what's your favorite finale of your favorite shows?
[00:13:36]DariusIf I exclude Six Feet Under, Man, that's tough. Let's get the bad ones out. The wires ending was not great. Breaking Bad. I could take it or leave it. Insecures was cool. Game of Thrones is not great. So we're really dealing with the shield, the Americans and six feet under. I'm going to go with the Americans because spoiler alert, the second to last episode, their cover gets blown. And then the last episode is them being extra. No, because that's when you get that's when you're exfiltrated. That's what we're looking for. And so there's so they have two children who are Americans born here. Their daughter knew about them being spies and was like training for it. And their son had no idea. And so they're on the run on the last episode and they call their son one last time. They bring in their daughter back to Russia and they call their son one last time. And, they can't tell him because, every phone's tapped at this point. And so they just say, right, that's emotional. And then they get on the train where they're going to Montreal and they're checking for passports and the train takes off because they're all sitting separately because they're undercover trying to get out. And the train takes off and you see Elizabeth look out the window and their daughter had got off the train and stayed behind. And so they were stuck going to Russia without their children, either of their children. And so That's up there. And with the, with, yeah, if I took six feet under off, that would be my favorite ending. How about you?
[00:15:18]JordanI'm gonna go. A lot of these did not have.
[00:15:28]DariusIt's hard.
[00:15:29]JordanIt is, it is. It really, it's really hard. It's almost like the better the show, the worse the ending because it's just, it's so difficult. And plus you never know when your show's gonna end, you don't have a set. You know what I mean?
[00:15:40]DariusThat's why movies are better because you have a beginning, middle, and end when you start. And so.
[00:15:44]JordanCorrect. I'm going to go with, you know, How to Get Away with Murder has a beautiful ending for Annalise, not so much for everybody else. It's a show called Hacking with Murder, so I, but I'm gonna go with the Big Bang Theory. I think they really nailed that ending.
[00:16:06]DariusThat's a good one.
[00:16:06]JordanThat's one of the few phonalysis. I'm gonna hold you like that one brought me to tears, man. Like Sheldon's speech at the end where he finally recognized the toll he took on everyone in his life and the price they paid for him to get to where he was. Him acknowledging that Howard is an astronaut, you know, him shouting out Penny and Leonard's pregnancy and saying that the first day that we met, he said, our kids will be beautiful and smart. And he said, I have no doubt that they will be. That callback to episode one was amazing. Amy finally holding him accountable for being selfish and being an *** because she just called him a lot, I felt like. Leonard getting to slap Sheldon, one of the greatest moments in the history of the show for me. They won the Nobel Prize, of course, they beat up the hacks who tried to rob him of the award. I just wish, Linda and Penny having a kid, I just really wish that they had given Raj a better ending. I hated that he still ended the show with nobody and just no, like, he ended the show the same way he started the show. You know, he had an arc, of course, he learned how to speak and all that stuff. He got more confident, but still, I just hated that he didn't get a fairytale ending as well. But I'd say the big man through, they stuck the landing on that ending for sure.
[00:17:18]DariusDo fairytale endings matter?
[00:17:24]JordanOnly in this situation, because everyone else got a fairy tale ending but him.
[00:17:28]DariusI. I don't wait for happy endings. I just want a good ending and a realistic.
[00:17:35]JordanI feel you. But it was a great ending. It was a great ending.
[00:17:40]DariusYeah, I did enjoy the and then they you know, they're eating Chinese food and like the it's an acapella version of the intro song. I thought that was pretty dope. But that show had, to me, fallen off in those last couple of seasons. So I kind of just hopped on YouTube and watched the ending.
[00:17:56]JordanI hear you. So if you ever get a chance, go on YouTube and watch the table read of the final episode. Man, that heartbreak, like emotional damage, like that **** hurt.
[00:18:11]DariusWere they crying because the show was ending or crying because they were making $1,000,000 an episode and now they got to go back to the real world?
[00:18:18]JordanProbably both.
[00:18:21]DariusOld girl hosted Jeopardy for like 6 weeks. I haven't heard from anybody since.
[00:18:24]JordanYeah, I'm trying to think of any of them who, I mean, Jim Parsons won the lottery, though, because he produced Young Sheldon, and that show ran for seven or eight years. And then there's George and Mandy's first marriage, whatever the show's called, and that's still running. So he's eating off Sheldon forever, basically.
[00:18:45]DariusI mean, he was the star of the show, so true for sure.
[00:18:48]JordanYeah.
[00:18:50]DariusSo we both have Game of Thrones on the list. Yeah, we both have our objections for the ending. But I often hear people complain about the ending, but I never hear them say what they didn't like about it. So I'm asking you, what about the Game of Thrones ending? Did you not like table stakes off the top? We know it was super sped up. So right. What is it about you that you didn't like?
[00:19:16]JordanI feel like they wasted the secret of Jon's heritage. I think I hated that they completely wasted four seasons of Jaime Lannister's character arc. Like they just for him to just go right back to Ceresi. What was the point of any of this? I hated that Ceresi got like a quick and painless death. She deserved a far more gruesome death. To me, that was my biggest issue with the finale. I mean, Bran being king, do we even need to talk about that? I feel like, okay, so you don't like Franklin's ending in Snowfall, but in general, I do feel like he would have found some way to have some sort of decent life after it all went to hell, or had some sort of failsafe, some sort of ace up his sleeve. And I feel like the same way for Tyrion in Thrones where he just did all that to end up like it just didn't make sense to me. I just feel like he was way too smart to end up how he ended up plus a nervous character like a ************ at the last like two seasons and he threw various under the bus. I didn't like that either.
[00:20:25]DariusHe ended up handed the king of Westeros though. I don't know.
[00:20:27]JordanI mean, well, you know what, that's fair. That's fair. You're right. You're right. But I just, what they did with him that whole ending season, I hated.
[00:20:35]DariusNo, I mean, it is. I watched rewatch Game of Thrones this summer. It was my summer rewatch. And yeah, I'm a bit of a of a truther on the ending. Like, I think season seven was fine. Just a little sped up.
[00:20:49]JordanSame.
[00:20:49]DariusI remember season eight. I was like, okay, I can't defend this.
[00:20:52]JordanNo. Yeah, it was. It was like somebody said all of Jon Snow's lines in season eight was She's my queen.
[00:21:00]DariusYeah, it's just like. It's like when you. Like you start a podcast or something and you like 10 minutes later, you're like, What? I don't. Oh, I actually made it three x. Like, you just like you, like, hit the button and it just it is. It is jarring. I don't. Yeah, I don't have a problem where people ended up. Jamie returning to Cersei felt true to the character to me. That's fair. Like, I don't. I don't need emotionally satisfying endings as long as like the writing makes sense. It makes sense. So I don't think Cersei dying in a pile of rubble. I don't know. I don't think that'd be a pleasant experience. But I do like Daenerys burning down the castle. I was cool with that.
[00:22:02]JordanLooking back, I was cool with that.
[00:22:03]DariusYeah, it just.
[00:22:04]JordanThat was your friend's dying wish.
[00:22:06]DariusThe problem is that, yeah, they beheaded her best friend in front of her. Yeah. She lost the dude with the scaly skin, Jorah.
[00:22:19]JordanJorah Mormont.
[00:22:22]DariusNo, I mean, she had they had been hinting at it. just was way too fast. And ultimately what ****** me off about the show, the ending was that when Daenerys set sail for Westeros. No, Westeros was the whole thing, right? Yeah, I think it was Westeros. When Daenerys set sails for Westeros, she has three full, fully grown dragons, all the smartest advisors, the Dothraki, the Unsullied. And there's nothing to do, but just have her run. Like she shows up, it's over, the show's over. And so like, they kept coming up with like increasingly absurd reasons why she wouldn't just use the dragons and win. Correct. And it just got dumber and dumber and dumber. And like Tyrion would give her bad advice and it would blow up in her face and then she'd be starting like, he would be like, oh, let's do this. And then like the boats would get destroyed and then they would lose. the Greyjoy girl and then it would just be like You have three drag like this is like there's a reason why Spin those are Gary's ruled for hundreds of years and it's because once you have dragons the game is over and so You know it just got really really stupid and I can forgive anything but stupid writing and so That's why I left snowfall because I just felt like The police only mattered when the plot needed them to. They only existed when the plot needed them to. Right. So I just was just like, this is stupid. Like when you watch a show like The Wire, like even when you pivot to the drug dealers, the concern about police wasn't ever like ever. It was always there even when they were like, you know, that's part of it. And then you're watching Franklin like do, you know, multimillion dollar kilo exchanges in parks in broad daylight, killing people in broad daylight?
[00:24:17]JordanDumping them in canyons and broad tail light.
[00:24:19]DariusAnd then he like, they kill Man Boy and he's like, call the police and tell them he tried to jump you. But that doesn't explain like the three gang members that Jerome and D-Ray just murdered in the parking lot. And I'm just like, it just got too stupid. It did.
[00:24:36]JordanAnd you know, and my biggest thing too is, and this is just like chest move **** not in real life, but just chest move **** in that world, okay? Why the **** did he not kill Louis? Franklin was too smart to have let Louis live. She was by far the biggest liability to the empire. She wanted the throne and you cannot have someone like that around. You have to kill them. I don't know why he didn't do that.
[00:24:58]DariusSomeone made the good point. They feel like this show is set in 1986, I think. But Louis is written like a 2026 like feminist character. And a woman in the drug trade in 86 just It just wouldn't be that bad. Would it move that way? Yeah, you know, she wouldn't like it would just it felt very much like it wouldn't be that stupid. Yeah, it just felt very much written like a modern woman, you know, you know, I mean, I guess I get, you know, it's possible. It is possible. She was very smart. But it just felt a bit like, you know, like, like some some of the most annoying parts of Twitter wrote her character.
[00:25:39]JordanShe was like, it was like they took Shiv from succession and put her in that world. Like that's kind of what her character was. Like she was, I had the killer mentality. She was smart and cunning and all that. But you got every, you ruined everything because you wanted to be the guy. It's like what we talked about with Draymond versus Barkley. You know, you say you want to win, but you're not willing to sacrifice for the good of the team. And that's why the team lost.
[00:26:05]DariusAnd she's making a lot of money. It wasn't like she was broke. So last question on this and then we'll get out of here. What's one show you saw on everyone's list that you were just like, I don't get it.
[00:26:18]JordanLet's see. Let me look here. Pull the list back up. There was a few. I was also more surprised by some of the shows that weren't on the list too. Let me see. Well, I'm scrolling for that. I meant to ask you. Did you see that debate that Bamani had with that guy on that podcast with Trey Jones?
[00:26:37]DariusNo, there's too many hot mics. I turned that **** off after like 10 seconds.
[00:26:41]JordanSo they were talking and he was talking about The Wire and the guy was talking about what Sopranos, he said Sopranos is better because Sopranos had more character development or like, oh, the characters more, yeah, the characters more developed and more interesting than The Wire. And I just thought that was insane. It's reminded was like every character in Sopranos is just dumb. He's like, you're telling me that Omar had no had no depth. Like, you know what I mean? Like, it was just insane. I couldn't figure out if the guy just like, how do I put this without? It felt like he couldn't see the depth. And I don't know if because he wasn't looking for it or because he didn't expect depth to come from those characters.
[00:27:27]DariusYeah, I mean, I thought the Sopranos was fine. That's, it wouldn't have made my top 10, even if it was eligible. Yeah, look, I mean, you're not gonna give me to say anything about the Wire. It's the greatest show of all time. And I tried to get away, like I saw some people it's a litmus test for how, I try to get a, I tweeted something like, y'all ain't going to be start calling people stupid over ranking TV shows. Can we be like, can we just, can something just be fun?
[00:27:56]JordanLike it's supposed to be fun, guys.
[00:27:58]DariusIt's just supposed to be fun, man. Like, we like, you know, you're not intelligent. Cause you know, it's like, all right guys, can we just, we're just ranking TV shows. Ain't none of us getting royalty checks. We ain't write none of this ****. That's also the question was like, cause Breaking Bad was #1. And it's like, would Breaking Bad be my number one? No. But like, it's not like they put Ozark at #1. Like Breaking Bad is a worthy option. It's just, I don't, I wouldn't have it there. It's like, I don't, you know, but to answer the question, I think The Wire is just, it's not a show for someone who just, you know, wants to, who's used to Netflix TV. As I'll put it that way. And so that's what I got. As nice as I could put it without calling people stupid in the name of a damn TV show ranking list. Can something just be fun that we just talk, shoot ****? Like can something just be the thing we do and we still be doing something at work? Like can we just ********?
[00:28:56]JordanNo, yeah, it's supposed to be water cooler talk. That's really all this is water cooler talk. It's not supposed to be, you know, some divisive thing.
[00:29:06]DariusI saw one person was like, Breaking Bad is a certain type of white blogger's dream because they think that they could be a chemist, they could sell. I was like, dude, can we just, can we be like.
[00:29:16]JordanNo, it's not supposed to be.
[00:29:17]DariusIt's not that deep, man.
[00:29:19]JordanCome on, guys. It's not that, it's not, and at no point is race a factor in that show either, you know?
[00:29:24]DariusNo, man. It's just, a lot of Mexicans in that show. It's not, it's diverse. It's just, there's no black people. You just.
[00:29:31]JordanCorrect. Which, why would we be in New Mexico? So that's realistic to me.
[00:29:36]DariusAlso, it's childish to not watch anything that doesn't, you can't see yourself in. That's a very dry way to look at the world. But let's get back to the question. What's a show that's on a lot of people's list that you were just like, I don't get it.
[00:29:50]JordanOkay, yeah, I'd say, you know, this show, it just wasn't for me. I'm gonna go with Girls, The Leland Dunham Show. Yeah, it just wasn't for me. I'm not the demographic. I'm not saying it's not a great show, a good show. I just, it wasn't for me. So I don't know how it got that high, I guess.
[00:30:17]DariusI have not watched any of it. I can just look at it and tell it's not for me. Two men, you mentioned it. That's what made me think of the question. Succession, don't get it. Paradise, don't get it. I just I've tried with Paradise.
[00:30:32]JordanI put on the list.
[00:30:33]DariusYeah. Wasn't into that succession. I was like, I feel like it's on HBO and it looks like a prestige show. So everyone just kind of made it one and I just wasn't into it. But I liked it.
[00:30:47]JordanI just never finished. It's fun and it's got some of the the ruthlessness of the shows we do like from HBO. And I think that's part of what people kind of clung to, you know? And it came along right after Game of Thrones. And I think people were just missing that Sunday night. HBO Phenom.
[00:31:05]DariusYeah, that's I mean, I think that's what that's kind of what I was saying is like people just just kind of mapped over the like HBO followed the formula and people just mapped the result over. And yeah, you know, so anything else for the list?
[00:31:22]JordanI would say True Detective. is too low. And it granted the show, I think only ran like 3, maybe four seasons. But that first season was so peak. I think just off that season alone, you got to put it higher up on the list. That show was insane.
[00:31:39]DariusYeah, I think the fact that two, three, or four weren't, well, two was terrible. Three, three was fine and four was good. When they went to Alaska with Jodie Foster, that was legit. Yeah, okay, yeah, The one with Maha Shala Ali was solid. That second season where Vince Vaughn tried to be serious. Rachel McAdams.
[00:32:00]JordanRichard McAdams. Yeah. Colin Farrell, I think was in it too.
[00:32:03]DariusYeah. They could have kept that one. But the one, the first season will always be goated. I think people, well, they only ranked the first season. So, you know.
[00:32:12]JordanTrue.
[00:32:12]DariusThere was some one season shows that are above it that were kind of wrong. But. Yeah. All right, man. You got the next topic.
[00:32:23]JordanYes, I was Sylvester Stallone, obviously famously played Rocky. He did a like hour, hour and a half long New York Times interview. It's transcribed as well as it's a video interview, camera interview, whatever you want to call it. And he talked about how playing Rocky and playing Rambo and all those characters in the 80s gave him, led to him having eating disorders. He said he was, you know, had bulimia. He talked about the toll that taking steroids took on his body and just the toll of doing his own stunts. he was like, guys, don't do your own stunts. I've had so many back surgeries, knee surgeries, dude. Like, it's not worth it. Just let snack guys do their thing, you know. I thought it was really interesting one because.
[00:33:04]DariusLet them tear their bodies up. Let the help do that ****.
[00:33:15]JordanLet the guys who can't act do this.
[00:33:18]DariusYour face is what's important here. Nobody knows them. Let them deal with the concussions.
[00:33:24]JordanRight. It's like, you know, the guy who makes sense to me. Let's have him put his life at risk.
[00:33:29]DariusI love when Richard accidentally tell the truth.
[00:33:31]JordanRight. It's like my favorite genre of interviews. Yeah, I loved it. It was really cool. I thought it was really cool and interesting that the guy who unknowingly perpetuate a lot of the body image issues that men have today. Suffered them himself. I thought that was really cool and honest of him to say. And we've talked a little bit about body image issues with men on the show,
