- Many things that look spontaneous are actually carefully planned behind the scenes.
- Rejection often feels like failure in the moment but can become obvious redirection later.
- Adult life frequently comes down to choosing between fun, sleep, and responsibility.
- Small conveniences, like thawing meat or washing dishes, are far more important than kids realize.
Best Debate
Preparation vs. Winging It Jordan argued that many disappointments and delays ultimately become meaningful redirections, while Darius argued that one of the biggest lessons of adulthood is learning that preparation almost always beats improvisation. [00:00:00]Jordan: Drake and Josh, the show, Drake.
[00:00:04]Darius: What is Drake and Josh?
[00:00:06]Jordan: You never seen Drake and Josh? Are you serious?
[00:00:09]Darius: What is it?
[00:00:10]Jordan: No, the Nickelodeon. Are you kidding, right? Drake? Remember we talked about him coming to Raleigh for like a bar fest or something like that? He was hosting.
[00:00:17]Darius: You watched that show?
[00:00:19]Jordan: Yeah, I was a teenager when that show came out.
[00:00:21]Darius: But you're black.
[00:00:23]Jordan: Yeah. For like 30 plus years. Yeah.
[00:00:27]Darius: You watch that. You watch that show.
[00:00:30]Jordan: Yeah, I watched that show. Nickelodeon had slaps back in the day. I don't care. You didn't watch the white show. You didn't watch the white show. Yes, yeah.
[00:00:41]Darius: You didn't watch the white show.
[00:00:42]Jordan: You didn't watch the show. I guess I watched the show. You didn't watch that show when you were older. So you were older. You were probably like 20 when that show came out.
[00:00:52]Darius: I did. I stopped watching. All manner of cartoon when I went through puberty, because that's when I met girls. I do still play pokémon on Nintendo Switch.
[00:01:04]Jordan: Okay, so that's 10 times worse. That is 10 times worse than watching Drake and Josh as a teenager.
[00:01:10]Darius: It is not one. Welcome to Out the Trunk with Jordan and Darius, the podcast where two people started talking at a bar and never stopped. My name is Darius. That's Deez. I love the area on all socials.
[00:01:24]Jordan: And I'm Jordan that's going to be writing on all socials.
[00:01:26]Darius: This is our What's On Our Mind segment where we let you guys know what's on our mind. Quick, quick hits, deeper questions, things that we have seen on the internet. And going to date the episode a little bit, but Madden 27 just came out. Did you pick it up?
[00:01:40]Jordan: Yeah, I got it on digital. I actually was playing it for a little bit before we got on here.
[00:01:46]Darius: Do they even still sell physical copies of video games anywhere?
[00:01:51]Jordan: I mean, I still get them for Christmas sometimes, so fair enough. But if I can get the, if I get the digital, if I buy it now, it's usually just digital.
[00:02:01]Darius: Okay, you like it.
[00:02:04]Jordan: I'm still getting used to it, to be honest. I got the catch timer thing off that makes offense much more fun. I'm still figuring out the audible zone defense because I'm just been like faking cover to nonstop.
[00:02:16]Darius: So what do you what modes do you play in?
[00:02:23]Jordan: I play all Madden, all Madden and competitive mode or arcade mode. I'll talk between those two.
[00:02:28]Darius: No, do you play like exhibition games, franchise mode online?
[00:02:32]Jordan: Oh, okay. I do a lot of exhibition games. Not a big franchise guy. Well, I'll do like superstar where I'll create a quarterback and go through the career. I'll do that. I'm not really. I don't really do franchise mode A lot. I might get back into playing online, though, since it seems like we're all having trouble with the CPU. So maybe that may make life a little bit easier.
[00:02:55]Darius: How is this your first Madden in a few years?
[00:02:58]Jordan: No, I get it pretty much every year.
[00:03:00]Darius: Were you good at the last year?
[00:03:02]Jordan: Yeah, that's what's so frustrating about this year.
[00:03:05]Darius: Yeah, I mean, I don't think the gameplay is a little different. They've moved some buttons around, but it's definitely they've made it so you kind of have to understand football a little bit. But I play on all pro. I play franchise mode and I love it, man. Yeah, you know, I lose sometimes and I'm rebuilding the Jets and drafted Dante more out of Oregon and.
[00:03:30]Jordan: Okay.
[00:03:31]Darius: Greener pastures, man. I just like managing the team. So the free agency, the draft picks, the.
[00:03:35]Jordan: Transactions and all that.
[00:03:37]Darius: I mean, I play the games too, but that's kind of more into that part of it, running the team than like I can't, I couldn't just do exhibition because it's just, they're just isolated and like I never get attached to anything. It's just, you're just running isolated. I mean, I'm going to get back into online multiplayer this year, but yeah, that's mostly what I buy it for is offline franchise mode. Occasionally, every few years we'll do an online franchise mode with people I know, but for the most part, it's just offline franchise mode.
[00:04:09]Jordan: Oh yeah, I'm totally opposite. I'd rather play. I'd rather just play like I'll, you know, any kind of games really. I love the drills, skill trainer, all that stuff, the offense only stuff. Yeah, and also I think I just myself play whatever. I like doing calling a bunch of audibles, so we making switches. doing things at the line of scrimmage, moving corners, safeties, all that stuff. So I got to figure this out. But I also took like a week off from playing it. I've been playing a lot of NHL 2026 lately too. So I've been toddling between those two games. It's fun. I really like it. I go on that one. I've been playing mostly rookie mode, but I do play semi-pro occasionally. It's just that the stick maneuvers I'm still trying to figure out because I don't know what the words are. So I don't know how to find the controls. to use the words to make the moves. But breaking down the schematics and stuff and reacting in real time is pretty fun. Breaking down defenses and stuff like that.
[00:05:04]Darius: Who do you play with?
[00:05:06]Jordan: The Canes.
[00:05:07]Darius: Okay.
[00:05:07]Jordan: So only team I know really, really well. because I play against other teams, like I'm learning those teams now too.
[00:05:13]Darius: Yeah.
[00:05:14]Jordan: New Jersey, really, really good. The Canadians, really good defense. It's like they're playing a different speed. Yeah, so it's fun getting to learn the game that way too.
[00:05:23]Darius: What, just playing exhibition games?
[00:05:27]Jordan: Yeah, mostly. pretty much mostly exhibition games. I don't know if I'm good enough to play online yet. I'm not about to get my head beat in by some 12 year olds.
[00:05:35]Darius: Yeah, I wouldn't even know how to play the hockey franchise mode, but I could I mean, I could play the exhibitions. You guys outside of sports, you playing any other games?
[00:05:46]Jordan: Yeah, I was playing the Bond game. I was like hooked on that for a long time. I'm like 75 to 80% done with that game. I took a break because I got stuck and I just, I literally don't know what to do. There's like no clues or hints. I'm just in this office building looking for a command center. It's like 60 floors. I'm just like, all right guys, you got it.
[00:06:08]Darius: Have you tried throwing it into like a ChatGPT?
[00:06:13]Jordan: No, I'd usually do YouTube.
[00:06:16]Darius: Yeah, the videos, they just take too long and the people talk too much.
[00:06:19]Jordan: So I just, that's also true.
[00:06:21]Darius: Throw my problem into an LLM and be like, how do I fix this? If I, man, you click a YouTube video and they spend 2 minutes prepping you to tell you what you need to do and I just, I can't take it.
[00:06:36]Jordan: No, I hear you. I'll just skip through like thank God for the automatic chapters feature on YouTube because I'll just go right to the whatever it looks like where I'm at in the game.
[00:06:44]Darius: You know, it's like if they're reading an ad, I get to get your money. I'm not mad about ads. But like the two minutes of clearing your throat. How is this? Like, I know you played this back and it's not just cut it. Like, you're doing it for free.
[00:06:57]Jordan: Like you're not getting money off this. I see your view numbers.
[00:07:01]Darius: Just cut it. does. It should not take you 5 minutes to get to where we were trying to go. It's actually one of my biggest podcast listener pet peeves is when the host spends 90 seconds setting up a question. And it's just like, I don't even, by the time he gets it out, I don't even know what his question is anymore.
[00:07:20]Jordan: I don't remember what I was looking up.
[00:07:21]Darius: Right, It's just like, dude, just ask your question. Or they ask the question and answer it at the same time. I hate that. So right now I'm playing.
[00:07:32]Jordan: Be for TikTok too.
[00:07:33]Darius: Oh yeah, that's another one. Right now I am playing. I just be Resident Evil Requiem. Okay. A dude still hop back on the Mass Effect. When I Mass Effect two and three, when I get bored, I just got Mortal Kombat, the collection. It was on sale for like 25 or like 25 bucks. And oh yeah, full price, full price, 50, that's not worth it. But for 25, you get basically all the old Mortal Kombat games before, I don't know, 2000. And it's like a, it's more like, you know what Criterion does with Blu-rays? It's kind of like that. It's like the games are, it's like an anthology almost. You get archival footage of the original engineers talking and it's restored and the games are almost beside the point. It's like a collector. It's like a criterion version of what Mortal Kombat was to. Okay, that's kind of dope. I mean, it's cool. If it was 50, I would have never bought it. But for 25 on a Friday night, What the hell? That's like, I mean, that's a meal. It's a little bit more than a meal at Chick-fil-A. So whatever.
[00:08:49]Jordan: Yeah, that's two combos.
[00:08:51]Darius: You know, so that's what I'm into, man, is just Grand Theft Auto, the PS2 trilogy, three, Vice City is San Andreas remastered is on the PlayStation Network for 18 bucks. So I might pick that up.
[00:09:08]Jordan: You know, is that I might cop that.
[00:09:11]Darius: You know, I've just I've been going out a lot less lately and it's I've been finding rediscovering my love of playing video games. It's keeping me in the crib and it's a lot cheaper to stay in the house playing a video game. So it's like just buy a game and it's something to do on a Friday night. You get a new game and it's you don't get that. I don't at least I don't get that like hungry to go out. So it's kind of it's keeping me It's a cheap hobby. It's a cheap replacement for going out. So it's healthy.
[00:09:44]Jordan: Yeah, that's true. You don't gain weight from playing video games.
[00:09:49]Darius: Well, you absolutely can.
[00:09:53]Jordan: Yeah, well, yeah, that's true. That's true.
[00:09:55]Darius: All things considered, it is it is better for you than partying, but it can't be the only thing you ever do either.
[00:10:02]Jordan: Yeah, you can't just. ghost your social life and you know, it's just balance.
[00:10:08]Darius: But instead of spending all weekend, you know, being a degenerate, like I'll stay in Friday and go on Saturday. And so I still get to it's like the best of both worlds. And then I wake up Sunday feeling better and then by lifts on Monday are just way better. And so yeah, I think that's a so it's been like a month and so far I like it. So we'll see what happens with that going forward.
[00:10:30]Jordan: Yeah, it's not a bad routine.
[00:10:32]Darius: You got anything else for that one, man? Any video game talk you want to get off the chest right now?
[00:10:38]Jordan: I have been going back to Spider-Man, Miles Morales, PS5 game. I've been playing that since Spider-Man Brainer Day has been out. I've been playing that a lot. That's fun. I first got that game, **** probably like 2023, maybe, 2022. But I'm in the plus mode where I beat the story. So now I'm just running around fighting people and swinging and flying all over New York. So that's fun.
[00:11:03]Darius: That's the best, man. I have The Last of Us one and two. And once you beat it, you get the plus mode. And yeah, I mean, that's the second playthrough is always better because you get all the upgrades and you know what to do. And I've probably played The Last of Us to 200 hours, probably, you know? Yeah. And so it's just, once you have all the weapons and stuff, and I maintain that no game has more dynamic combat than that. So that's good stuff, man.
[00:11:32]Jordan: Okay.
[00:11:33]Darius: You know, shout out to us rediscovering a childhood hobby, you know?
[00:11:38]Jordan: Yes, gaming is fun when you also like do what you're supposed to do in life. As long as you're like not quitting work and it's like.
[00:11:47]Darius: Everything, most things are fine in moderation, you know? So yeah. It's just about balance. So you want to get into some TV show talk?
[00:11:57]Jordan: Yeah, so we were talking last week about protagonists, what makes industry protagonists, and ones we love, kind of ones we hate. So I want to talk about shows that we love with protagonists or characters that we really truly hate. And also I think characters that just got way too much of a pass in the lore of the fans and stuff, So for my first one is Lily from How I Met Your Mother.
[00:12:24]Darius: Okay.
[00:12:25]Jordan: She, end of season one, she leaves her fiance, not at the altar, basically calls off the wedding to get a, she got a fellowship in San Francisco, which she applied for during the engagement, didn't tell him about. He found out through a voicemail type thing, As one does. Yeah. And she, and she, goes off to San Francisco, flames out and then comes back and expects him to just like be cool and take her back, whatever. They end up getting back together and they are a great love story. But I just always hated that. And then, she meddled in all their friends' relationships and did some manipulative stuff, she could be a bit annoying. So that's one. Another one is Drake and Josh, the show, Drake.
[00:13:15]Darius: What is Drake and Josh?
[00:13:17]Jordan: You've never seen Drake and Josh? Are you serious?
[00:13:19]Darius: What is it?
[00:13:21]Jordan: The Nickelodeon, are you kidding, right? Drake, remember we talked about him coming to Raleigh for like a bar fest or something like that? He was hosting.
[00:13:28]Darius: You watched that show?
[00:13:30]Jordan: Yeah, I was a teenager when that show came out.
[00:13:32]Darius: But you're black.
[00:13:34]Jordan: Yeah. For like 30 plus years. Yeah.
[00:13:38]Darius: You watch that? You watch that show.
[00:13:40]Jordan: Yeah, I watched that show. Nickelodeon had slaps back in the day. I don't care. You didn't watch the white show? Yes. Yeah.
[00:13:52]Darius: You didn't watch the white show.
[00:13:54]Jordan: I guess I watched the show. You didn't watch that show when you were older. So you were older. You were probably like.
[00:14:03]Darius: I did. I stopped watching all manner of cartoon when I went through puberty. Cause that's when I met girls. No, you watch this.
[00:14:16]Jordan: Yeah. You didn't watch that show at all. That's crazy. Frank and Josh is a great show.
[00:14:24]Darius: Not to take a dark twist, but I was first made aware of this man during that Nickelodeon exposure. During the, and we'll go there, but that documentary. The first time I was made aware that person existed.
[00:14:37]Jordan: That's crazy.
[00:14:38]Darius: No, man, my Nickelodeon ended with like Rugrats and Rocco's Modern Life.
[00:14:42]Jordan: And that's like when mine started.
[00:14:45]Darius: I mean, I was out, man. Any sort of like pokémon, wrestling, all that stuff. I mean, I used like puberty colloquially because that's the only like time period I could think of where it changed. But like, I don't know where it switch flipped, but it was just like one day. I just put that **** down. Like I don't really.
[00:15:08]Jordan: I mean, I pretty much, yeah, I thought I quit pokémon around like eight or nine, maybe 10. And then wrestling, I was, that was a phase from like I'll give you this confession.
[00:15:20]Darius: I do still play pokémon on Nintendo Switch.
[00:15:23]Jordan: Okay, so that's 10 times worse. That is 10 times worse than watching Drake and Josh as a teenager.
[00:15:29]Darius: It is not.
[00:15:32]Jordan: Hey, we're going to take a poll. That's going on social media.
[00:15:37]Darius: It is not. But you know what? No, I do still play the last pokémon when I got my switch to I bought pokémon Shining Pearl and I'm probably like 150 hours into that.
[00:15:52]Jordan: Okay.
[00:15:53]Darius: And that was in May. So there I that is I think the only person who would know that would be our friend Tori. And that's because she plays.
[00:16:09]Jordan: Oh yeah, she loves. Yeah, that's it. Yeah.
[00:16:11]Darius: And so but that would be I guess that's my podcast confession is that I do. I do not watch, but I do still play pokémon. I'm going to get Scarlett here in a second. Well, not in football is about to start, so I don't really have time, but yeah. No, man, I've not. Why? I don't the Nickelodeon stuff. Yeah, I just the whole that whole when I'm watching that documentary, that whole era after like all that was just completely alien to me. I was watching it like it was a true crime documentary. It wasn't anything like nostalgia or anything like that.
[00:16:50]Jordan: Oh, okay. So I watched like all those shows. So it was like that. It was iCarly. There was a spin-off called Sam and Cat. That one wasn't good. Victorious, Zoe 101, Summerland. They had some dope ****. Nickelodeon had some dope **** back in the day. Degrassi, obviously, you know. Ariana Grande got her start. She was in Victorious. Leon Thomas was in Victorious too. So that's why I found those two. I've known I've been fans of them for, you know, like 15 years now.
[00:17:17]Darius: I didn't know. So there are some talented people.
[00:17:19]Jordan: Yeah, he was a child star. Yeah.
[00:17:22]Darius: No, I yeah, I mean, just to not leave you out there hanging, I'll give the people one. I play some pokémon.
[00:17:29]Jordan: So appreciate it.
[00:17:33]Darius: I'm trying to think what else. Yeah, just as far as just like things that I do that are coded juvenile would probably be playing pokémon. I mean, that's pretty bad. So yeah, that's it. I'm about to say that's like, it's so like when you play it, you can tell it's clearly designed for children because it's so easy to beat. Like it's just like The computer will throw out a fire pokémon and then you just throw out a water one and then you use a water move.
[00:18:02]Jordan: And then it's over. Yeah. So there's no rough paper scissors. Okay.
[00:18:05]Darius: No, it is just, it's very, you can tell it's designed for a child's brain. And like once you get into like competitive plus EV, you know, battle royales, which I don't do because I just, I'm not breeding pokémon to get extra points and all that ****. Right. But if I get super dorky, I do.
[00:18:24]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:18:26]Darius: So especially if I'm like remote, I'll hop on the Reddit thread. It's Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl, so it's BDSP. And like if someone's looking for an evolved trait, I'll just help them out with that. And so like what it is, like there's some pokémon who only trade, who only evolve when you trade them. So like Kadabra evolves to Alakazam and like Graveler will evolve to Goldum, but you need to trade them to somebody and trade them back. And back when we were kids, used to have an actual trade link, a cable, we have to go to somebody's house and trade. Now it's all digital. So I'll just hop in the Reddit thread and like scroll and see if anyone's looking for a trade and be like, yeah, I got you. And just send them a link code and we'll do like. So like there's version exclusives for each, like, so there's pokémon on Brilliant Diamond that I can't get on Shining Pearl. And so like I'll be like, I'll breed you these three pokémon and then you trade me those three and then I'll go to the daycare and like breed the pokémon and send them to the internet person and then they send them back. So as Usher would say, those are my confessions. So I don't just play, I actually play. So I do. Yeah, there's like a like Saturday morning you can battle like your rival. And he gets better the more you progress. And so that's one of the first things that will Saturday morning, wake up, get situated, get breakfast and sit down and beat the rival. So nice. Can't ever say hi that pretty hanging.
[00:19:57]Jordan: That's fair. That's lit.
[00:20:03]Darius: Anything else for that one? I guess we never really talked about the characters. I have. As I said last week, Mike from Suits hated his guts. This one's a little controversial because people love him, but Ned Stark in Game of Thrones was not a fan.
[00:20:23]Jordan: I hate him too. He was a horrible ******* father. He failed his children at every turn. His pride was so he was so selfish. Yes, go ahead. I didn't even cut you off.
[00:20:32]Darius: Go ahead. No, I don't think he was a bad. I think his flaw was that he was too good. And he wanted to he wanted to live in a world, you know, he just He was a Northman and he tried to bring, he wasn't prepared for the politics of King's Landing and it ended up making his whole family worse off because of that. And so it does not sadden me when his head gets chopped off in season one, episode nine. I think it's eight. It's eight.
[00:21:01]Jordan: So yeah, you could argue his actions bordered on suicidal, considering the world that he was living in. That's a good one. Both Moesha and her dad. They both suck. Her dad was a chauvinistic ******* and was just really mean and sexist. And then Moesha was kind of a mean girl to all her friends, especially to Kim or Countess Vaughn's character.
[00:21:30]Darius: RIP, I think, right? She's gone.
[00:21:32]Jordan: No, she's still here. Yeah, she's still here. That's Andel. Andel passed away.
[00:21:39]Darius: Yeah, she's not dead. Fair enough. She's 4 foot 11 though. So that is.
[00:21:44]Jordan: Yeah, she's just very short.
[00:21:47]Darius: Yeah, you're right. Adele is gone. RIP Adele.
[00:21:50]Jordan: Yeah, RIP to her. She was great.
[00:21:53]Darius: No, I don't. As far as 90 sitcoms, season one, Uncle Phil hated him. That's right. They probably, that's probably why they rewrote the character.
[00:22:01]Jordan: Season one Carlton too.
[00:22:03]Darius: Season one, that whole family.
[00:22:06]Jordan: Yeah, pretty much everyone but Will and Ashley, they sucked.
[00:22:08]Darius: Pretty much. The Winslows was not a fan of Carl Winslow.
[00:22:16]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:22:17]Darius: You know, he was. He was not great. I'm trying to think. No, trying to think.
[00:22:23]Jordan: I'd say Rachel from Friends.
[00:22:27]Darius: That one wasn't great either. I'm trying to think. Joan from the girl from girlfriends the main lead character was not great.
[00:22:37]Jordan: I'm trying to actually really all of them all the girlfriends were horrible people.
[00:22:41]Darius: Well, that's probably because we're men.
[00:22:47]Jordan: They hated each other. They were not friends.
[00:22:50]Darius: I'm trying to think trying to think of characters who you're supposed to like. And so it's easy to just pick like Lieutenant Rawls from The Wire who was like cartoonishly evil.
[00:22:59]Jordan: Right. Leonard could be annoying. Leonard, Leonard Hofstadter.
[00:23:05]Darius: Oh yeah.
[00:23:06]Jordan: He was pretty, he was pretty whiny.
[00:23:10]Darius: I think. Who else did you have on your list?
[00:23:16]Jordan: Oh, Monk from Monk. He was, he was kind of unlikable. I mean, he had a lot of trauma and I think I was clearly, you know, had some rain man situation going on, but he could be a lot to deal with. There's a show called Pretty Little Liars. This girl named Allison, she's like, Regina George would be like, yo, that ***** is crazy.
[00:23:39]Darius: Okay.
[00:23:40]Jordan: That's like, that's the best way I can describe that.
[00:23:44]Darius: Okay.
[00:23:50]Jordan: Protectors were supposed to like.
[00:23:52]Darius: I'll get you one. Who was the wife and best man? Her name was Mia, right? The one who died.
[00:23:58]Jordan: Yeah. I mean, she started that whole ****.
[00:24:01]Darius: You know, there are better ways to get back at me and sleeping with my best man is not one of them. And not telling me, I mean, you know, not great. And I'm sure she's supposed to be likable in that movie, but I found her behavior to be a bit detestable and you can't be a bit detestable to be detestable.
[00:24:18]Jordan: And then passing it off is like, oh, it was just a sweet, innocent moment. He took my virginity or whatever. Like, what? That was crazy. And I can't remember if she read the book too, but I feel like she probably did.
[00:24:32]Darius: Maybe. I'm trying to think. What is a recent prominent show that we, that everyone's watched so we could just pick someone on it? I guess the problem, there's no monoculture anymore. Everyone doesn't watch the same thing.
[00:24:48]Jordan: Yeah, there's no big shows.
[00:24:50]Darius: It's like the laziest things.
[00:24:51]Jordan: Too many big shows.
[00:24:52]Darius: No, yeah, they're all, but they're all in their own like niche areas, right? You know, there's no, and like, I'm going to say Molly, and it's the least, that's the most unoriginal thing ever.
[00:25:04]Jordan: Right, I would say everybody, most healthy people hated Molly. I.
[00:25:09]Darius: Don't know, man. I don't really have anything else for that one, do you?
[00:25:12]Jordan: The Tiffany 2, I wasn't offended to. from Insecure, she was awful. And the way the fact she set up Condola with Lawrence behind Ease's back, that was insane.
[00:25:22]Darius: She just set them up. They were at the party together.
[00:25:26]Jordan: No, remember, she introduced them before that.
[00:25:29]Darius: So, like what?
[00:25:31]Jordan: That's not crazy.
[00:25:32]Darius: No. No, they were, they were broken up and they.
[00:25:37]Jordan: I don't know, I think that's a little nuts.
[00:25:42]Darius: I don't think so. I, people got to grow up, man.
[00:25:46]Jordan: You think she should have at least told Isa like, hey, I'm doing this?
[00:25:49]Darius: For what?
[00:25:51]Jordan: I mean, they were always all in the same space. Like that, just out of respect.
[00:25:55]Darius: These are not teenagers. These are 30 year old working professionals. Like we don't have to.
[00:26:00]Jordan: That's fair. LA is a small town. Like that's fair. That's fair.
[00:26:03]Darius: People got people date people break up people. Yeah, it's not easy. People got to get out of their feelings, man. I, you know, that's, you're not the main character of the universe. And her friend said he was cute or whatever. I don't know the mechanics of it. And she introduced them. And what those two grown people do is not her problem. You know, that's valid.
[00:26:29]Jordan: And she did cheat. So it's like you did cause the breakup.
[00:26:32]Darius: So yeah, it's just. you can't hermetically seal your exes from your entire now your inner if it been Molly or something that was dating Lawrence that's different but like your friend introduced him to her friend you just got to charge that to the gang you can't get mad about that you know that's just that's just people being people and she can't help with them two grown people gonna do.
[00:27:00]Jordan: True and he probably would have shot a shot anyway knowing Lawrence That's fair.
[00:27:04]Darius: He was on a tear.
[00:27:06]Jordan: Actually, you know what? I just thought of another character from Insecure that everybody tried to act like we were supposed to like that I'd never really ****** with personally. Nathan. People are like, oh, Nathan and Easter should have been in game. She ghosted her for a month, moved to Houston, and then tried to pop back up on her birthday with some flowers.
[00:27:23]Darius: With some cheap flowers at that.
[00:27:24]Jordan: With cheap flowers at that. It's like. I made a comp. I made a comment about it on TikTok. I was like the same people who excuse his like bipolar disorder for him like ghosting her are the same people that say Lawrence deserve to get cheated on because he was going through depression.
[00:27:41]Darius: That and quite a violent streak. Probably not. That's not a good sign. Men who cannot handle their temper are not. That's not a good sign.
[00:27:54]Jordan: That is true.
[00:27:56]Darius: And the ghosting, the cheap flowers, the popping up like nothing changed, But when it was over, he did just he did bow out gracefully. So he did.
[00:28:12]Jordan: He did. Oh, yeah, that's true. I think that's all I got for that one. You got anything?
[00:28:17]Darius: No, man, we can head into the next one. Just a random prompt I pulled off my list of evergreen topics. So What, phrase it two ways, what advice do you feel like you're finally old enough to understand and or what advice would you give your younger self that you are finally old enough to understand? So.
[00:28:37]Jordan: The advice I'm finally able to understand now that I hated like when I was younger is delayed, not denied. Wanting things to happen exactly how I wanted them to happen, when I wanted them to happen. with who I wanted them to happen with and if it wasn't like on my timeline and based on what I thought I should have by then it was like I shouldn't even ******* I don't even want this anymore you know like like somebody could have liked me or I could have liked somebody they'd like me a week later I'd be like well **** this like you know **** like that also just you know not understanding the bigger picture you know when there's that phrase rejection is redirection And that's something I really have had to learn, had a hard time accepting, a lesson I had a hard time accepting. Because there was things, jobs I thought I wanted. And you look back and you're like, I probably, it's probably a good thing they didn't call me back or, you know, whatever. Or the girl I liked and it's like, you know, maybe it's a good thing that it didn't work out or that she shot me down or whatever. yeah I think that's probably one of the biggest lessons I've learned because when you can't get something that you think you're supposed to have you feel like you failed and sometimes it's not a failure it's just you know something that needs to happen so that you can get what you're actually supposed to have.
[00:30:06]Darius: At what we need the the the what do they do in poetry the the.
[00:30:12]Jordan: The snaps the snaps yeah.
[00:30:13]Darius: That was pretty good that's pretty good I got over after all that I got weightlifting I was like, don't listen to your body. As I am doing a current rest week, those are important. Don't try to power through injuries. There are a few times in life where I really wish I had not tried to work through injuries. It took me a while to learn the value of preparation. Mm hmm. There's nothing I you know, I've said this before on the pod. There's nothing more overrated than winging it. It's just and you know, it's funny because I doing the pod, watching other people's content now, so much stuff that I thought was improvised, I could feel the setup. I you could just like you could just.
[00:31:03]Jordan: Yeah.
[00:31:04]Darius: Every podcast you that feels like they just turn on the mic and start yapping. I promise.
[00:31:09]Jordan: No, Like that's yes. Like that's the one thing I like about like the button pod is they do like behind the scenes **** or they the **** before the show. Like they're hanging out at their studio wherever, you know, forever long before they shoot. So they've had the conversation before, they go and sit down and, you know, do the stuff.
[00:31:29]Darius: Yeah, it's It's and it's one of those things. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. And it just right. I'll listen to like now the talented ones don't sound like they're reading from a script.
[00:31:43]Jordan: Right.
[00:31:43]Darius: But I would venture to guess that virtually none of the big podcasts are just totally winged. I think Joe Rogan's might be just totally winged.
[00:31:53]Jordan: Yeah, that one for sure.
[00:31:55]Darius: And it's like 3 hours. And I don't know how it's popular, but it is the most popular podcast on Earth. So **** it. I don't know.
[00:32:00]Jordan: He gets good interviews. I used to I watched some of those. I've watched some of those clips before. If it's someone that I'm really a big fan of.
[00:32:06]Darius: It's just a three hour stoner conversation. And I just can't take the meandering nature of it.
[00:32:11]Jordan: I do wish. Yeah, I wish he'd put time stamps in those for sure.
[00:32:15]Darius: But no, it's preparation. Pretty much anything. Almost everything I wing I ends up being worse than if I prepared for it. So just when you when I meal prep on Sunday, it makes it so I don't have to wing dinner and that helps. And, you know, just writing down my lifts and preparing for the pod and things like with work and even like even circling back to Madden, like when the off season starts, I will write down my targets. and look at the draft and which players I want and which picks I have and where I can get value here and what kind of contracts are there. I don't just I remember if I just like start a dra
