  • Netflix content, streaming fatigue, and “homework television”
  • Adult tasks that feel performative: ironing, making beds, folding clothes, sorting laundry, and vacuuming
  • Weight changes, clothing sizes, and accepting when clothes no longer fit
  • Organization, personal systems, and building useful infrastructure

  • Mainstream versus niche tastes in music, movies, sports, and food
  • “Washed” culture and exaggerated narratives about aging
  • Popular artists they do not understand and the transition to legacy-act status
  • Creative decline and knowing when a franchise should end

Best Questions

  • Have we made success too public?
  • Which everyday adult responsibilities are unnecessary or performative?
  • Why do people feel pressured to dislike popular things?
  • Who is universally praised in entertainment that you simply do not understand?
  • When should artists and franchises stop producing new work and protect their legacy?

Best Observations

  • Many adult tasks continue because they are traditional, not because they create meaningful value.
  • Social media encourages excessive victory laps and excessive public venting.
  • Popular things usually become popular because they genuinely resonate with many people.
  • Being different is not inherently smarter than enjoying mainstream culture.
  • People often exaggerate aging while ignoring habits that could improve their health and quality of life.

Best Debate

Has social media made success too public? Jordan argued that sharing wins can inspire people and demonstrate what is possible. Darius argued that excessive visibility creates comparison, invites unwanted attention, and encourages oversharing.

Major Themes

  • Adulthood
  • Responsibility vs. convenience
  • Social media etiquette
  • Privacy
  • Remote-work culture
  • Mainstream vs. niche interests
  • Entertainment criticism
  • Aging and self-perception

00:00:00 Darius: While we're here, when you getting on stage again?

00:00:03 Jordan: I got some bullets in the chamber. I just got to find the right time to shoot them. Metaphorically.

00:00:08 Darius: One. Out the trunk with Jordan and Darius. My name is Darius. That's D's all up in the area on all socials.

00:00:16 Jordan: And I'm Jordan. That's Jordan to be riding on all socials.

00:00:18 Darius: This podcast, two friends met in a bar, started talking and never stopped. So our segment we call What's On Our Mind, where we let you guys know what's on our mind, things we saw on the internet, pop culture, stuff like that. New different, a new different world. The Different World reboot trailer just dropped. Did you check it out?

00:00:38 Jordan: Yeah, I saw it a few hours ago when it popped up on Twitter. It looks like it's got they got a good budget. That's the first good sign.

00:00:49 Jordan: There some of the old cast is involved. That's also a good sign. Love seeing black people be employed in the entertainment industry.

00:01:01 Darius: That was a good thing.

00:01:01 Jordan: That's a third good sign. So we got three good signs in the course of a two minute, three minute trailer. It does feel again, it's just trailer, so who knows, but it does feel a bit like

00:01:14 Jordan: an old person's interpretation of what a modern HBCU is. You know what I mean? Like it just looked like the stove.

00:01:21 Darius: Yeah, it's I think it's written by Debbie Allen who wrote the original, but the original was 40 years ago. Right, Yeah. Okay, so here's my thing with these reboots. Why are they so serious? Like sitcoms are supposed to be whimsical and funny and silly and

00:01:44 Darius: They always take these like super serious tones and I don't, is that a, is there a reason for that?

00:01:50 Jordan: I watched it and that's been great. It felt heavy. Like it just felt like, it didn't feel like the fun I felt in college. You know what I'm saying? Like every day wasn't fun, of course, it was college, but you know, that just wasn't my experience. Again, it's a trailer, but you know, whatever. Yeah, I don't know. It just felt very like,

00:02:08 Darius: They did a gritty reboot of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. So I mean, anything's possible. Yeah. You know, I just, I feel like the essence of sitcoms is that you did some serious episode, but like, I didn't get any laughs. I didn't sense any laughter in that trailer. And, you know, it's not for me. I don't, I'm not with these reboots. I think it's, I don't think it's fair to the creatives involved. Like,

00:02:40 Darius: why can't you just make something new? I don't get it.

00:02:44 Jordan: Yeah, the reboots are exhausting at this point.

00:02:46 Darius: The concept of a different world isn't really all that like unique. Just do.

00:02:51 Jordan: No.

00:02:52 Darius: And then when you brand it that way, which is probably how it got green lit, you're kind of putting them in a box and it's an uphill climb and you could have just made something else and given them an opportunity to where they can chart their own path instead of just trying to make people

00:03:07 Darius: relive something that came out 40, 40 years ago. And, I wish them the best, but I'm probably good on it.

00:03:16 Jordan: Yeah, same. It almost gave me shades of that. Have you seen that show, Dear White People?

00:03:22 Darius: I have not. No, I did. The title alone was a non-starter for me.

00:03:26 Jordan: Right. Yeah, it gave me a little bit of shades of that. Like, Grown-ish was a sitcom.

00:03:34 Jordan: you know, in the spinoff of Blackish obviously, but like, it felt like still like fun college kids, you know, there was still like a lightness to it, even though it was a bit melodramatic, you know, I don't know. It felt, yeah, it felt almost like a, like remember like the, the last like hour of like you got served before everybody like came back together again. Like that's kind of what it felt. Remember the sequence where like,

00:03:59 Jordan: Marcus Houston gets robbed and like they play the Hamilton song and like Omar Young's dancing in the rain and like, we're just like, stop being fun for like 15 minutes. Like, that's kind of what the vibe I got.

00:04:11 Darius: Are you going to watch it?

00:04:14 Jordan: Probably not. Actually, funny story. So I was, I was in Charlotte this weekend. I was hanging out at a friend's crib and we were watching, we're like hungover, just like looking for something to watch on TV and on Netflix.

00:04:27 Jordan: And we've talked about streaming content and how it's tailored to people not watching and stuff like that. And it's just, everything's over explained or whatever, how just the quality is so bad. When you're leaving from the watch and you just scribe, swipe through all the trailers in a 5 minute period, you're like, holy **** it's all true. Like sometimes you're like, oh, they dramatize it. Like every streamer shows can't have bad content, which they don't. But Netflix is really like the bottom shelf.

00:04:48 Darius: No, I mean, it's just all swap. Like if you scroll through and sometimes I'll read a

00:04:55 Darius: a description. I'm like, that sounds like a decent movie. And I look and it's like 8 episodes. I'm like, what? It'll be like the description will be like, you know, mom comes home because her dad died and she meets her like high school love. And it'll be like 8 episodes. Like how the **** you get 8 hours out of that? There's no way.

00:05:15 Jordan: Right.

00:05:16 Darius: That's a that's a stretch to get a movie out of you.

00:05:20 Jordan: No, yeah, for real. It's a homework movie.

00:05:22 Darius: You just like there's this the diplomat

00:05:25 Darius: And that was like the third episode. And I was like, I don't have the nothing is going. This is a show about gibberish. It is just, it's all bad. Like none of it's any good. All the documentaries are slop. If it's not a movie that was made somewhere else and licensed to Netflix, it's going to be bad.

00:05:44 Jordan: Right.

00:05:44 Darius: I think if it's made by Netflix for Netflix, it's terrible. All of it's really bad.

00:05:51 Darius: Only reason I have Netflix, I get it for free with my cell phone now. Otherwise, I didn't have it for a year because it was it's junk.

00:05:58 Jordan: Yeah, they I mean, I go there because they have some of the good movies that keep getting taken off every streaming service because it's a constant shell game. Yeah, other than that, I don't know. I forget I have it most of the time. I'm usually watching Amazon or Disney Plus.

00:06:11 Darius: I hear you, man. You want to head into our first topic?

00:06:14 Jordan: Yeah, what we got?

00:06:17 Darius: Everyday tasks.

00:06:19 Jordan: Oh, yeah. So

00:06:21 Jordan: I've just been like thinking about like, you've had those periods where you're like, you know what? I'm just not doing that. It feels performative and a waste of time. And it feels like that's like where I'm at, which is like a lot of adult, quote unquote adult or like homemaking tasks. One of them being ironing. I just throw my clothes right in the dryer and I know it takes longer, but whatever.

00:06:45 Darius: You better just wear them wrinkled. I don't care.

00:06:51 Jordan: The rumors I'd be late sometimes, like what I usually do is like before I get in the shower, I'll take the clothes, put them in the water a little bit so they're like damp and then throw them in the dryer to get the wrinkles out on a high speed. And then I'll just shower and game until my clothes are ready.

00:07:05 Darius: I've been in my current place three years next month. I don't think I plugged my iron in one time.

00:07:12 Darius: I'm not ************. I believe that. In fact, I believe you zero times. In the last unit, maybe, because I've stayed there 10 years, but in this one, it'll be three years in September. I have not, I could have left my iron in the old spot and I would have never noticed. Like I just, you know, that one's out. That was the one I had, because I didn't really know where you were going with it.

00:07:37 Darius: I'm glad you didn't say like bathing, but.

00:07:39 Jordan: Oh, yeah. No, I do that every day.

00:07:43 Darius: But now I am. I do not iron. I can't. I can't do it.

00:07:48 Jordan: Yeah. I feel you. Yeah. There's some dryers now that have a D wrinkle setting, like basically just completely replacing the iron, which does

00:07:56 Darius: anyone under the age of 50 still iron? Do you know anybody, any of your peers, friends? Anybody?

00:08:02 Jordan: I know a lot of people who don't iron. I talk about this with other people and they say the same thing. I mean, I think like I iron dress clothes because you can't get out of not doing that. Other than that, I pretty much don't do it. Yeah, so that's one for sure. Another one, I've always felt this way since I was a kid. Making the bed just feel so performative. It's like I sleep in it. People know I sleep in it. Why don't people like I don't sleep in it? Who are we putting this show on for? This is not a movie.

00:08:32 Jordan: As long as your sheets are clean, I don't see the problem.

00:08:37 Darius: Well, so I have been called out. Like I posted a selfie with a wrinkle bed and this woman I had a crush on called me out for it. And so I've been, I'm a bit cognizant of that, but just like on the day to day, I might take one selfie a week. So it's not even really like, I'm just not a picture person. So on a day to day,

00:08:58 Darius: That bed is going to look like it did at 10 A.m. at 10 P.m. at dawn.

00:09:05 Jordan: Yeah.

00:09:06 Darius: I only vacuum once a week now. I feel like vacuuming every day is performative as hell.

00:09:09 Jordan: Yeah, every day is nice. I'm sorry. Unless you have like a husky. I don't get the point.

00:09:14 Darius: I do have a cat, but so they should. I vacuum once a week the whole place.

00:09:21 Darius: And then another time a week, when I get ready to fold my clothes, I don't use like a folding board. I just literally, in my spare bedroom, dump all the clothes on the floor, fold them all, put them in a basket, put them up. And so I iron that, I vacuum that room out first so I don't pour my clothes all over cat hair. Dirty. So that would be stupid. So that's, so that room gets vacuumed twice a week, the rest of this place once a week. So Gotcha. Anything else?

00:09:50 Jordan: It's funny, he brought up another one I was going to say, folding clothes. That's like really a problem for me. It's a sign of like,

00:09:57 Darius: it's probably leading to the wrinkles. We're establishing a chain of chain connection here.

00:10:06 Jordan: You know in therapy to say it all connects.

00:10:08 Darius: Yeah, I guess so.

00:10:09 Jordan: I literally, I literally, like I take my clothes and I ball them up and I put them in the drawers.

00:10:15 Darius: Oh no, hell no.

00:10:20 Darius: I don't not right away because like Sunday is the big laundry day because that's like the meal prep day prepare for the week. So I wash my bed sheets and swap those out on Sunday. And I do a big load of clothes like my hamper, which is just kind of like everything I wore through the week, you just throw in a hamper. And I fold that stuff Monday. And then so it sits for a day. I don't fold it right out the box.

00:10:49 Darius: And then I wash, I work out all week and then I do a cycle of gym clothes on Friday because that's too sweaty and nasty to sit for a whole week. And so I fold those up right away because I need to wear them and go back to the gym because I only have four sets of gym shorts. And, so, but I'm with you. They sit for about 24 hours. And I can't do. Do you still separate the darks and the whites?

00:11:17 Darius: Not gonna be able to do it.

00:11:19 Jordan: No, I didn't go sit up here and perform for y'all. No, I do not.

00:11:23 Darius: No, I mean, they're mad.

00:11:24 Jordan: I won't watch like a red shirt with a white dress shirt or something like that, obviously. But other than that, no, I don't do that.

00:11:31 Darius: Listen, man, I shop at Amazon and Old Navy. So if this shirt that costs $20 gets ruined in the dryer, we'll just get another one. I'm not. I'm not going to be.

00:11:43 Darius: Right, yeah. **** that. All that shit's going in there. And you know, I'm not separating. The hamper goes in with four Tide Pods, not even Tide Pods, generic Amazon pods.

00:12:02 Darius: Yeah. And, whatever comes out, comes out. And it's cool with that. And like, I'm pretty strict on like, once a clothes, once clothes look like worn, they're out there, they become gym shirts or pod shirts or whatever. I won't wear them out, But I'm not big on the maintenance part, man. Cause like, I hear you. What's the point of being delicate about a shirt that costs 30 bucks, 20 bucks? You know, like what?

00:12:27 Darius: I'm not the designer, so it don't matter.

00:12:30 Jordan: Yeah, same here. Like I work remote, so I'm not really going anywhere pretty much during the week for the most part. Like I go to the gym and I go out on weekends and that's for new ****. So like I don't need like my fresh **** until the weekend. So I don't really worry about that until the weekend. During the week I'm washing gym clothes. And sometimes if I don't feel like doing laundry, I'll just buy more gym clothes. I'm gonna go out of you. So I'll be like, I can just wait a day on Amazon to get me some new shorts and I'll go tomorrow.

00:12:54 Darius: That's a flex man. We're gonna brush your shoulders off.

00:12:58 Darius: Somebody's got money out here. No, I do not. I have four. Well, so I wear tank tops or like plain white t-shirts at the gym. But I mean, I have a stack of those because they're basically shirts that I used to wear out that just became gym shirts. But the shorts, 4 pairs, black, black, blue, gray in a four short rotation. We watch them on Friday.

00:13:22 Darius: to get me for the next days. And, you know, and once one gets a pair, a hole in it, that's when we replace it.

00:13:28 Jordan: So yeah, I ripped my shorts when I was out one night downtown. I still don't know how that happened. And I was like, you're like one of my favorite shorts. And they're like broken in perfectly where they didn't look dingy and they were perfectly comfortable. You know, I was pretty sad about that. So I had to buy some new shorts, getting used to them. It's an adjustment.

00:13:48 Darius: I did get some less of the feedback from our episode. We talked about the dress code at Tuskegee.

00:13:54 Jordan: Oh yeah.

00:13:55 Darius: And I was like, you know, it's like totally like, why are your jeans uncomfortable? Maybe they don't fit. And I did get a text and the person was like,

00:14:06 Darius: I had to cut off the podcast at that moment because I'm currently wearing jeans that are uncomfortable. You personalize that, not me. But no, like if you find yourself doing Olympic stretches to get into your jeans, might be time to reevaluate.

00:14:24 Jordan: Yeah.

00:14:25 Darius: Just your clothes shouldn't make you uncomfortable. Obviously some clothes are more comfortable than others. But like, I don't know the jeans I wear are not like burdensome.

00:14:36 Darius: I think they're fine. I don't know.

00:14:39 Jordan: I feel like that Beyonce line cut a lot, give a lot of people reason to cut themselves some slack with the whole like, you got to jump to put your pants on thing, you know. But shout out to the ladies who do have to jump to put their pants on, you know, I appreciate and respect y'all tremendously in all facets of life. What else was I about to say? Oh, you know what? It's funny. I was talking to some friends this weekend about, and I was like talking about my, I remembered a conversation I had with the Uber driver like a month or two ago.

00:15:04 Jordan: We're talking about working out in the gym and fitness and stuff, whatever. And I was like, the crazy part is like, how long it takes you to realize it's you that's getting bigger. Cause like for me, it was like, first I was like, oh man, like my shirt shrunk. Like damn, I love the shirt. Then it was like, but it slowly evolved. Then it was like,

00:15:24 Jordan: more than one of my shirts shrunk. And I'm like, that's weird. Maybe I'm using like too much heat in the dryer. And then I was like, not my pants too. And then I realized it was me. I'm the problem.

00:15:38 Darius: Yeah, it is true. It is true. It's hard to buy bigger clothes because it feels a little like accepting.

00:15:48 Jordan: Yeah, it feels like giving up.

00:15:49 Darius: It really does. But no, man, if you find

00:15:54 Darius: all the listeners out there, if you find a large portion of your clothes are not comfortable, there's a purchasing issue. Like, you shouldn't, it's fine. Like sweatpants are fine, but they're gym clothes and house clothes. They are not outside clothes.

00:16:09 Jordan: At work, we call that user error.

00:16:11 Darius: Yeah, you know, and prioritizing comfort at all times is what for children. Like children wear comfortable like Velcro shoes because they can't be uncomfortable for more than 5 seconds, but you're an adult.

00:16:22 Darius: And you can go. You don't need to wear Velcro shoes and comfy pants everywhere.

00:16:30 Jordan: Yeah, no, the seven part is real because I've talked to people like, you know, when you kind of realize when you when it, you know, when it hits for you and they'll be like, you know, it's usually the jeans that's to give away. They're like, Oh, my jeans don't fit anymore, you know, whatever. And then you got to buy new clothes. And and that does feel that does hurt for sure because you're like, ****. But eventually those clothes, they'll fit and you get used to them.

00:16:52 Jordan: And then you work, work hard and then there they'll be too big for you, which is nice. It's a good reward.

00:16:59 Darius: And it feels a lot better when you have when you get to throw away the big clothes. And so yeah, like it's just it's a feeling you hesitate at first because you don't want to have to go back and buy them again. But there comes a point where it's like two sizes down, you throw away the two sizes up.

00:17:20 Darius: And it feels great, And so, it's like the whole fall down the mountain, getting up thing. So there you have it. Any other tasks?

00:17:31 Jordan: I think I've decided to stop. I think I've decided to retire. So I will be no, I'm just kidding.

00:17:40 Darius: Retire what?

00:17:43 Jordan: Oh, yeah, you, yeah. No, I love what I do.

00:17:52 Jordan: No, just, I mean, I feel like being responsible is annoying, but it does have benefits. So just getting used to the benefits of the annoying responsibilities we have.

00:18:05 Darius: I don't find, I find irresponsible cool, man. Today I reorganized all of my photos for like 10 years. It felt good when it was done. It was a good time. So I had a cross.

00:18:19 Darius: my cell phone, all my old phone backups, my Google photos, my OneDrive photos. And I wrote a Python script to scrub all of those, move them into one master folder and sort them by year and then within the year by month. And then I was able to delete all that junk.

00:18:42 Darius: and keep it in one folder and I was able to back it up and it was good.

00:18:45 Jordan: Nice.

00:18:46 Darius: Organizing things and it's, I don't know, like you grow to appreciate it and when it's done and you build the infrastructure out and every day you build on that infrastructure and it makes, it's easier to accomplish tasks when you have the infrastructure there and you can build on it.

00:19:03 Jordan: Yeah, that's very true.

00:19:05 Darius: You want to head, or I guess this next one is mine. Just a general prompt, take it wherever you want to take it. Have we made success to public?

00:19:16 Jordan: Okay. It's tricky because it's really a double-edged sword because I, in general, yes, because of the culture of comparison, we're living now with social media. Like when you're not in a good place or if you feel like you're not where you're supposed to be in life,

00:19:32 Jordan: And all you see is everyone's wins and everybody's highlights. You know, it just it does make you feel worse about yourself. So in that standpoint, yes. But I also think people need to see people win to know that it's possible to get a win. You know what I mean? So from that standpoint, it's it's it's it has its advantages as well. I guess it depends on the way the win is.

00:19:57 Jordan: the success is being presented. If it's like a money spread, maybe not. You can keep that for the close friends. But if it's you getting a new job or something like that, then you should share that with people or can share that with people.

00:20:13 Darius: Anytime I see someone with like a large wad of cash, I'm like,

00:20:20 Darius: Why?

00:20:23 Darius: I cannot remember the last time I had over, I don't know, $100 in my wallet just because what's the new, like it's beyond, it's just, it's at this point with the way the world works, having a bunch of cash is inconvenient.

00:20:40 Jordan: You're actually losing money, Lucky.

00:20:41 Jordan: Yeah.

00:20:41 Darius: Well, not even that, it's like,

00:20:44 Darius: You have to keep it on you somewhere.

00:20:45 Darius: Like you have to put it in your pocket.

00:20:47 Darius: Your pockets are big.

00:20:48 Darius: And if you lose it, it's just gone forever.

00:20:49 Darius: It's something it's it makes you a target.

00:20:51 Darius: It's just high stress.

00:20:53 Darius: Whereas you could just like there's you could put it on a card and or on your Apple Wallet or Apple, whatever, Apple Pay.

00:21:00 Jordan: Google Wallet, whatever your phone.

00:21:02 Darius: Yeah, everyone takes it.

00:21:03 Darius: There's no it's

00:21:05 Darius: Cash used to be the most convenient way to pay for things, but now it's fine.

00:21:09 Darius: And anytime I see someone with a bunch of cash, I'm not going to lie, my spider sets start tingling.

00:21:14 Darius: Like, we're just...

00:21:21 Darius: There aren't a lot of...

00:21:26 Darius: There aren't a lot of legitimate means for which someone would just have $10,000 in cash in their pocket.

00:21:30 Darius: Right.

00:21:31 Darius: Yeah, It's.

00:21:34 Darius: That's not from a paycheck.

00:21:35 Darius: You know, that's not.

00:21:36 Jordan: No, right.

00:21:37 Jordan: Because if it was, you'd keep it in your bank.

00:21:40 Darius: If you ran a business, you wouldn't just accept someone's duffel bag money.

00:21:43 Jordan: You would just have.

00:21:44 Darius: Well, depending on the business.

00:21:45 Darius: If you ran a business with which you pay taxes, it's just like, how does one come about a large sum of cash in 2026 that is not shady?

00:21:54 Jordan: Yeah, unless you're like a bartender.

00:21:56 Jordan: I got work concessions after college, after graduation for a few months.

00:22:03 Jordan: And so I just like always had a **** ton of cash.

00:22:06 Jordan: And I had a legitimate job in the house.

00:22:08 Jordan: I had graduation money.

00:22:08 Jordan: So that was like a lot of cash.

00:22:10 Jordan: And I remember I took it to the bank and I felt like they probably thought I had like been selling drugs like that.

00:22:15 Jordan: You know what I mean?

00:22:17 Jordan: But it makes me think of that viral.

00:22:18 Jordan: You do realize that was 10 years ago, right?

00:22:21 Darius: Oh yeah, for sure.

00:22:21 Jordan: For sure.

00:22:22 Jordan: Yeah.

00:22:24 Jordan: Unfortunately, yes.

00:22:28 Darius: That was before Google, Google Wallet and Apple Pay.

00:22:31 Jordan: True, yeah, that's true.

00:22:32 Jordan: I had a bunch of has in college in 1970.

00:22:34 Jordan: I just had to.

00:22:34 Jordan: I just had it.

00:22:35 Jordan: It's back when we came back from the war.

00:22:41 Jordan: No, it makes me think of that.

00:22:42 Jordan: You ever saw that viral clip of Jim Jones?

00:22:44 Jordan: He was like doing it, recording a live podcast episode.

00:22:47 Darius: Yeah.

00:22:47 Jordan: And he like was trying to like make cash slip out of his pocket on accident.

00:22:52 Jordan: And so he's like slumping in his chair and he's like moving his hand in his pocket to get it to spread out.

00:22:57 Jordan: And they're like, oh, you dropping bread.

00:23:00 Jordan: He's like, oh my God, it's so embarrassing.

00:23:02 Darius: Like, you know, I just don't.

00:23:06 Darius: It's like the word, like cash is legit beyond just inconvenient.

00:23:09 Darius: It's like, especially for those dudes who have large lump sums of money.

00:23:12 Darius: It's just, it's like the worst place that you could just put it in a bank account.

00:23:18 Darius: And that like, if you lose a credit card, you call, they cancel it.

00:23:21 Darius: They send you another one.

00:23:23 Darius: You lose a lot of cash.

00:23:25 Darius: Ain't even no point in calling.

00:23:27 Darius: Like it's over.

00:23:27 Darius: Like it's gone.

00:23:28 Jordan: Right.

00:23:28 Jordan: What are you going to do?

00:23:29 Darius: There's nothing for you to do.

00:23:30 Darius: It's just chalk it up.

00:23:32 Darius: It's over.

00:23:33 Jordan: Yeah, you're done.

00:23:34 Darius: But to get back to the topic, I think I'm with you.

00:23:40 Darius: It's important to share wins, but I do think people overshare.

00:23:44 Jordan: Yeah.

00:23:45 Darius: Like I maintain that a big reason why a lot of companies had RTO.

00:23:50 Darius: Initiatives is because of those day in the life videos where people weren't doing any damn work.

00:23:55 Darius: It's like, yes, I'm not knocking what you do, but why are you making the block so hot?

00:24:00 Darius: Like you really should.

00:24:00 Jordan: No, seriously, seriously.

00:24:02 Jordan: Like, y'all are the reason we have to drive once a month or twice a month or whatever your remote or hybrid schedule is just to perform for what?

00:24:12 Darius: It's like, you never want to call attention to how little work you're doing.

00:24:17 Jordan: No, you do not.

00:24:19 Darius: Never a good idea.

00:24:20 Jordan: You want to look like you're on the verge of death while you're at work.

00:24:23 Darius: Yeah, because somebody's going to ask, well, why are they even here in the 1st place?

00:24:26 Darius: I'm not doing anything.

00:24:28 Jordan: Yeah.

00:24:30 Jordan: I saw this tweet a couple days ago and someone was like, the best part about working from home is you can just say you have internet issues and go to the gym.

00:24:37 Jordan: And someone was like, y'all still haven't learned to shut the **** **.

00:24:42 Jordan: Also, what job are you working where you can just disappear for an hour and a half?

00:24:45 Jordan: Dude.

00:24:47 Darius: Yeah, I think it's like, I can't say that, but yeah, you really shouldn't be like, I do think it's like a bit of a misnomer because even in the office, no one is grinding out eight straight hours.

00:25:02 Darius: Like that's not how it works.

00:25:04 Darius: You know, I've been in an office, I've been remote.

00:25:08 Darius: There's a lot of BSing in both ways, but yeah.

00:25:12 Darius: You just, it's like, it's, that don't rub the company's face in it.

00:25:18 Darius: Just keep it low, keep it cool.

00:25:20 Darius: Like, you know, act like you've been there.

00:25:22 Darius: You know, there's also there's a difference in how you do it.

00:25:25 Darius: It's one thing to, on a slow day, watch a movie while you're still green and available if something comes up.

00:25:33 Darius: And it's another thing to just be outrunning errands.

00:25:34 Darius: Like that's.

00:25:36 Darius: Right, Like be home.

00:25:38 Darius: Yeah, there's a way you, like, there's a way you could even slack off with strategic, like you'd still need to be available, but like, if someone calls you or asks you to hop on a call and you know, you're at Starbucks, that's gonna look a lot worse.

00:25:54 Darius: But if you were at the crib watching Game of Thrones and you just, okay, cool, hopped on.

00:25:59 Jordan: Yeah.

00:25:59 Darius: That's how you, like there's a way to use.

00:26:02 Jordan: Grab your headset or whatever you got to do.

00:26:05 Darius: No one's saying you got to just grind out eight hours because you're working remote, but there's a way you do everything, you know, like, don't be outrunning errands and **** in the middle of it.

00:26:14 Darius: I mean, you got to run a package.

00:26:16 Darius: Okay.

00:26:17 Darius: That's one thing if you got, you know, whatever, but you know, be strategic about it.

00:26:20 Jordan: So yeah, I agree.

00:26:22 Jordan: Yeah.

00:26:24 Jordan: Yeah.

00:26:25 Jordan: And it's like, have you ever been in like any work meetings where someone's like, obviously driving?

00:26:31 Darius: Or you see the teams and it's a cell phone and it's like, yeah.

00:26:36 Darius: Yeah.

00:26:36 Darius: Okay.

00:26:36 Darius: Your teams doesn't work.

00:26:37 Darius: Okay.

00:26:38 Jordan: Okay, bro.

00:26:40 Jordan: I'm glad you had fun at the mall.

00:26:42 Darius: Yeah.

00:26:43 Darius: You make it the black hot.

00:26:45 Jordan: Yeah.

00:26:47 Darius: But no, I think as someone who's pretty private, I get I

00:26:54 Darius: I get both sides of it, but I do think oversharing is a bad.

00:27:01 Darius: Also, people overshare too much negatives about their lives.

00:27:03 Darius: Like we really don't need to.

00:27:06 Jordan: There are some people and I'm like, have you ever had a good day?

00:27:08 Darius: Or just like, why are you?

00:27:10 Darius: posting your emergency room visit.

00:27:13 Darius: We really don't need to see like your head busted open getting stitches.

00:27:17 Darius: Like that **** that's like, that sounds like a family personal type.

00:27:22 Darius: Like why all 400 of your followers need to see you like your gushing blood wound from whatever, you know.

00:27:28 Jordan: Yeah, that's a good one.

00:27:30 Jordan: Yeah, that's a good one.

00:27:31 Jordan: I think people underuse close friends.

00:27:35 Jordan: You know, some **** you just keep for your inner circle.

00:27:40 Jordan: And then also I think there's a fine line between like sharing your loss because I do think you should share some of your losses because like this is real life, But where it gets to the point where it's like, okay, like, dude, this like every day is something with you.

00:27:55 Jordan: Every day it's a paragraph post.

00:27:57 Jordan: Why?

00:27:59 Darius: My favorite is like the just text that person post where the like,

00:28:05 Darius: now I'm the evil person because I decided to call you out.

00:28:08 Darius: Just please take us out the group chat.

00:28:10 Darius: Like this is for an audience of 1.

00:28:13 Darius: Just that person.

00:28:15 Darius: Like I don't, why do I have to be a party to this?

00:28:19 Jordan: Or it'd be the people who like, who are always like posting like emo **** and it's like very clearly performative where it's like, no one has one back but me, I'm alone in this world.

00:28:28 Jordan: And it's like, you have a loving family and a full social circle.

00:28:30 Jordan: What the hell are you talking about?

00:28:33 Darius: That is the absolute worst, man.

00:28:34 Darius: It's just, you know what I actually hate?

00:28:40 Jordan: Yeah.

00:28:42 Darius: The pedicure posts where they take a picture of someone like rubbing their feet and it's like, they're paying for a service.

00:28:51 Darius: That's fine.

00:28:52 Darius: I get it.

00:28:53 Darius: But like, do they consent to this photo of being like, look at this slave I hired.

00:28:58 Darius: They're rubbing my feet.

00:29:02 Jordan: Look at these peasants.

00:29:05 Darius: I just threw her some crumbs and she was like, some breadcrumbs and she jumped.

00:29:08 Darius: It's like, okay, I get that.

00:29:10 Jordan: Yeah.

00:29:10 Darius: She's probably well compensated to be honest with you.

00:29:13 Darius: And you're going to tell me, that's fine?

00:29:14 Jordan: And you're probably overpaying, to be honest.

00:29:17 Darius: The imagery is really bad.

00:29:19 Jordan: It does.

00:29:19 Jordan: It does look very ill.

00:29:20 Darius: Scrubbing your feet.

00:29:22 Darius: They're wearing a mask.

00:29:23 Darius: They're not asking for this photo.

00:29:24 Darius: They've been at work all day and it's like.

00:29:26 Jordan: Right.

00:29:26 Jordan: They hate your guts. 00:29:28
