00:00:00 Jordan: I'm of the belief that like if someone's jealous of you, they can kill you. You know, not literally, but like they, in the sense from the standpoint of like, you know, it breathes.
00:00:12 Darius: Out Trump with Jordan and Darius. My name is Darius. That's these I love your area on all socials.
00:00:17 Jordan: And I'm Jordan. This Jordan will be writing on all socials.
00:00:20 Darius: This is our segment where we like to let you guys know what's on our mind, what we saw on the internet, what's going on. I would like to start the pod by apologizing to the viewers for this shirt. I know it is ugly. I bought it off of Amazon. I did not know that it came with shoulder pads. So it instantly became pod shirt. I just bought a hoodie off of Amazon. I didn't know that it was doing weird things right here. And so it became a pod shirt. And I'm well aware that it's hideous. And you don't have to write us. You have to tell us. I know. And that's why I'm wearing it inside. I would never wear it outside. Which it doesn't make a lot of sense. It's giving.
00:00:59 Jordan: See you later, alligator.
00:01:02 Darius: Off of Amazon, no less. I won't wear it outside.
00:01:06 Jordan: Shout out to Shane.
00:01:06 Darius: I'll wear it on the internet forever. So that doesn't even make any sense. But it's funny.
00:01:11 Jordan: I didn't even notice the.
00:01:13 Darius: Yeah, it's totally different than everything else. It's just like it comes with shoulder pads. It's ******* hideous.
00:01:19 Jordan: Looks like some of you were to perform on stage with Madonna or something.
00:01:23 Darius: Or like Lady Gaga. Yeah. Quick question off the top. Have you ever voted in a singing competition?
00:01:32 Jordan: Voted in a singing competition? No, no, I haven't.
00:01:37 Darius: Have you? Yeah, apparently that was laying back like American Idol the first few seasons. Yeah.
00:01:42 Jordan: Oh, you mean like, I thought you meant like in school or some ****. Okay. No, like American Idol to vote. No, I never did. I think my parents might have like the first couple seasons of American Idol. Cause remember like that was like everybody was from North Carolina, like the first couple of seasons. Like Clay Aiken and Fantasia. So yeah, I think my parents might have ever did it. Yeah, She's from North Carolina. I think she's from Raleigh. I can't remember. But yeah, she's from North Carolina.
00:02:14 Darius: I learned something new every day. I voted. I know I voted for Fantasia. Definitely voted for Ruben Stuttered.
00:02:23 Jordan: Yeah, I think my personal too.
00:02:26 Darius: And then I mean, I don't. Yeah, we used to sit around as a family and watch it every week and then vote and ****. So apparently that's lame.
00:02:34 Jordan: Yeah, that was our ****.
00:02:36 Darius: Yeah. Well, speaking of vote, it's too late for this by the time you hear this, but you should vote this year. It's good. It's good for you to do that. of the listeners. Now, I know you voted, but we'll talk about the NCAA CP awards.
00:02:51 Jordan: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you want you watch any of the clips?
00:02:55 Darius: I did. I did see the you. What do you want to talk about it first?
00:03:03 Jordan: Well, first of all, I didn't realize It was televised, honestly. So that was dope. And it was, I think also it was really cool to see that a lot of times like the black award shows, the big names don't go. And so it was really nice to see that everybody, like everybody was there. they treated it like the black Oscars, which is how our **** should feel. And so that was dope. That was really important, I think, especially like this year and everything that's going on, obviously in the last couple of weeks with the award shows. And of course, there's, the legendary moment of Viola Davis reading the envelope, seeing Michael B. Jordan's name and going ******* crazy.
00:03:40 Darius: Was that? was the NAACPs.
00:03:44 Jordan: Yeah, For her it was the NAACPs. And then it was the, actually no, I'm sorry, I'm tripping, mixed up award shows. Yeah, so he got best actor at the NAACPs and entertainer of the year at the NAACPs. And then the actors awards the next night was the one with the Viola Davis, the viral clip.
00:04:08 Darius: Congratulations. Good omen for winning the Oscar. I think.
00:04:12 Jordan: Yeah, it really is.
00:04:14 Darius: Usually there's a strong correlation between the two. So not going to lie. I found the at the NAACP thing, I found the like standing ovation and heroes welcome a bit much. They're not coming home from Kuwait. I, you know, like, let's, let's, you know, they.
00:04:31 Jordan: Were in a came out.
00:04:33 Darius: Yeah, they weren't in Iran. Let's keep things in perspective. But it was nice to see them. Yeah, I love Don, as the kids say, but I think their flowers. Yeah, it was very nice and good for them. The most the thing I appreciated how they comported themselves throughout the thing. They didn't, you know, react like, you know, the sky was falling. They even during the event, they powered through and, they were very diplomatic about it while not, capitulating. And they didn't, do the thing that I hate, which is like fall into perpetual victimhood. So, good luck to Mr. **** Michael B. Mr. Jordan. Michael B. Jordan at the Oscars next week, man. I hope he brings it home.
00:05:17 Jordan: Yeah, me too. I think it's that I also agree. There was a clip, I don't know if you saw, where Amy Madigan, who played the villain in Weapons, she got her award like I think right before he got his. And so I think she was backstage when he got his award. And so she didn't see it. And so she was like on the red carpet after the show, whatever, like a post-game event or some ****. And she was like, who won best actor? And they were like, Michael B. Jordan. She was like, Michael won. Oh my God. She was like, yes. And then she goes, who presented it to him? And they said, Viola Davis. She was like, hell yeah. She was like, that's huge. And because I don't know if the viewers maybe don't know, the SAG Awards, the Actor Awards, they're voted on by actors. So that's, you know, a different level of respect, you know, being, you know, sent to you by your peers. And the way she reacted, you could tell kind of like what you said, where like, it's a good omen for the Oscar. which I thought was kind of dope. And it's also it's always like we watch sports and stuff, but it's always cool to see like which athletes respect which athletes.
00:06:14 Darius: Yeah.
00:06:14 Jordan: And the way the room erupted when he won was like, okay, like they really **** with him. Like obviously that's a testament to his character as a person and professional, because to see a whole room of your peers just go crazy for you winning an award is that's about as good as it gets. Honestly, that's I'd say that's probably as big as an award, I'd imagine, to the person receiving it.
00:06:35 Darius: Yeah, I mean, it's easy to forget because he started so young, but I mean, he's been at this almost two decades, Right. Wallace on the wire was like 2003, **** two decades. So more.
00:06:47 Jordan: Yeah.
00:06:48 Darius: Because he's 37, 38 now. And Wallace was when he was a teenager. So even as a youngin, he, you know, he's put in his time. And, you know, I think I said when centers drop, it was analogous to me to when Will Smith did Ali like before he was like an action movie actor and obviously he's still Will Smith but right he wasn't Oscar nominated like Ali turned him into like a pure like a dramatic actor that people are serious and you know I think Sinners is that for him. So good luck. Yeah, absolutely. Well, I forget what that was one tweet that was like, our antennas are up. Let me find it right here.
00:07:34 Jordan: Okay.
00:07:34 Darius: So because there's a strong correlation, except the two times it didn't happen. And I just want to make sure I get this right.
00:07:42 Jordan: Okay.
00:07:45 Darius: Said Michael B. Jordan wins actor. 24 of the previous 31 SAG lead actor winners went on to win the corresponding Oscar. Three mismatches in the last nine years. Denzel Washington and Ben Affleck, Chadwick Boseman and Anthony Hopkins, and then Chalamet and Brody. My antennas are up. They did Denzel, they did Chadwick.
00:08:10 Jordan: Yeah, that's okay. That's yeah, that's not.
00:08:13 Darius: The three times in the last nine years it didn't work. Three times it was black dudes. And then Timothy like that. But yeah, I said that's. Go ahead, sorry. Yeah, I was gonna.
00:08:22 Jordan: Say, yeah, honestly, that's the thing I'm like most worried about with the Oscars is like, it's either gonna go really well or they're gonna play in our face. And I feel like there's just like no in between. So that makes me a little nervous. I mean, again, that doesn't take it, even if they don't win, that doesn't mean that the movie didn't do its job and represent the culture. But you know, Art is subjective, but quality art should be recognized. And so I hope that they're not, they don't have egg on their face, on next Sunday night or a couple Sundays after next.
00:08:53 Darius: Yeah, I think hands down, unequivocally, it was the best movie of the year. I wouldn't be mad if Timothy won best actor for Marty Supreme. But if I were casting a vote, it would be for what just happened there. If I were casting a vote, it would be for for Michael B. Jordan. But those are. But if any, there's no movie. And I've seen all the Oscar movies. I don't even come close to centers. And so that should be a shoe in for best picture. Yeah. You know, best actor is a toss up. But all things lead towards.
00:09:29 Jordan: So they're leaving here with something.
00:09:30 Darius: Yeah. So which do you think is a higher degree of difficulty? You've seen them both.
00:09:34 Jordan: Yeah.
00:09:35 Darius: What Timothy did or what Michael B. Jordan did.
00:09:39 Jordan: Yeah. So I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go what Michael B. Jordan did. The ping pong **** was insane. Like, I'm not even gonna hold you, know. But I just feel like how many times have we seen the arrogant obsessive movie? Like, I mean, that's not something uber unique. And we've seen and we've seen actors play multiple characters. We've seen actors play triplets or sextuplets or whatever, and twins. But Not like this. I mean, like they're good. Like somebody made the great point. They're like, they're going to be kids who grow up and they're going to think that Michael B Jordan has a twin brother, kind of like how we did when we were kids with Lindsay Lohan and Parent Trap, because like their performance was that incredible. And you know, like he, remember he's from New Jersey. He mastered a 1920s, 1930s Mississippi dialect. You know, he changes each, each twin was a different voice, different facial expressions. you didn't really need to have them wear different colors to be able to tell who was who. the characters had different records to each of the twins. Like, you know what I'm saying? And it wasn't just because of the story. It was also because of the acting, the performances as well. I just think what he did was incredible. And I think if you had told somebody, if you showed somebody five years ago any of those scenes from that movie, you would see, they'd be like, no way, that's Michael B Jordan. Because again, the rap was, he's a handsome guy, good action star, but Vin Diesel. That was the rap on him. I never really subscribed to that, but that was the rap on him. I always felt like he had it in him personally, just like certain scenes in certain movies. I was like, there's, he has it. I think he just has to unlock it. But yeah, like I just think that performance was incredible, man. Like that, you know, the scene where he smoked dies and he holds the baby and she's like, put that smoke away before you give the, hold the baby. The ending scene, the post-credit scene where he's like, was that the best day of your life too? And he's like, no doubt about it. Last time I seen my brother, last time I seen the son, man, like he smoked that monologue, dog. I think he was ******* incredible. And this is no respect to Timmy Chalamet. I think he's awesome too. And he's definitely going to win all 12 asteroids driest course of his career. But If you ask me which performance captivated me the most and stay with me the most emotionally, I'm going to say Michael B. Jordan's characters and sinners.
00:11:57 Darius: Yeah, I agree. Just on pure degree of difficulty. It's just, you know, there's something to be said for being in every scene for 3 hours, like Timothy and you never being bored. Like that was a frenetic movie. But, you know, so somebody has to win. If I had a vote, it'd be Michael B. Jordan. So. So I don't know if the listeners are aware, but the Atlanta Hawks are not this Monday, I think, but next Monday hosting Magic City Monday. If you are not aware, Magic City is a legendary strip club in Atlanta. Thoughts. I'm going to throw it to you. Thoughts.
00:12:40 Jordan: That's the most Atlanta **** I've ever heard of. You want to go to the game? I want to know, first of all, how are they going to do it? Like it's at a game. You can't have. There will be no strips. Yeah, so like I don't even know how it's, they're just going to have wings.
00:12:59 Darius: Branded hoodies and lemon pepper wings.
00:13:02 Jordan: Okay, yeah. I don't find that to be wildly controversial. I mean, if it was, you're not going to have the girls there, you know what I'm saying? So I mean, should kids know what it is? Obviously no. So in that standpoint, I understand some of the outrage, but Some of the statements that have come out have been a little bit performative to me. Yeah, I mean, it's Atlanta. If it was any other city, I'd be like, that's crazy. But because it's Atlanta, it's almost like it's like the Vegas of the South. So I'm just not as appalled as I usually would be in something like this.
00:13:36 Darius: No, NBA team should not be promoting sex work. I don't even know.
00:13:42 Jordan: But every NBA team does promote sex work.
00:13:45 Darius: How so?
00:13:47 Jordan: Every NBA, come on, they got somebody on there who's paying somebody for sex. Come on, man.
00:13:51 Darius: Okay, but like promoted as part of like the arena promotion. They're not like... There is no defense of this.
00:14:01 Jordan: I hear you.
00:14:02 Darius: Every defense of this is like some pointless whataboutism or like some thinly veiled insinuation that the guy who, which I forget the guy's name, is like racist, the white guy who said we shouldn't do this.
00:14:15 Jordan: Oh, that's what they're saying. I didn't know.
00:14:17 Darius: I mean, they're not saying it, but they're saying it. They're like, you need to respect black culture. And I'm like, first of all, it's a strip club. I think I don't. I hope our culture has not been reduced to that. What I first thought, I thought, okay, this is just, this is tacky. Like it's tacky. Yeah, it is tacky. But then they just started defending it like it was like a historical landmark or like it was an afterschool program or, you know, I'm just like, all right, y'all, strip clubs are like havens for sex trafficking. And the vast majority of strip clubs are fronts for a brothel. Like throwing dollars at women on stage is like 5% of what's actually happening in a strip club. Correct. And I just don't think that a multi, an international, multi-billion dollar industry should be offered with strip clubs. I don't have any problem with strip clubs. They're not personally anything. But you know, this is a free country. But don't see McDonald's holding stripper night. You don't see Coca-Cola holding stripper night. You don't see I just show me another multi-billion dollar international brand that partners with local strip clubs.
00:15:34 Jordan: Yeah, I don't know. That's pretty. Yeah, it's a bull strategy.
00:15:37 Darius: Can we please be serious, man?
00:15:41 Jordan: Yeah, no, I know. I know. I'm ******* with you. Yeah, it's actually crazy. It is really funny, though, because you see how they're cooking Al Horford on Twitter. Did you see that?
00:15:50 Darius: Yeah, because he's...
00:15:53 Jordan: Yes, he basically retweeted the or reposted the statement and then somebody was like, didn't you cheat on your wife?
00:16:02 Darius: Again, there's no defense of the actual action of partnering with the strip club. Everyone's just like, well, there's, well, they sell gambling ads. Okay, what does that have to like?
00:16:13 Jordan: Yeah, I was like, I don't understand. That's not the same thing.
00:16:17 Darius: What is your defense of the actual partnership? There isn't one.
00:16:20 Jordan: Yeah, it's all covering a spread and you know, That's a bar. And it's like somebody added Al Horford and they were like, your wife just did a **** marry, kill on the Celtics. I'm not sorry, not wife, sister.
00:16:42 Darius: You know, again, I saw our dude was like, the NBA has partnered with Israel. And I'm like, dude, There's no bigger tell that you don't have a defense than when you keep trying to change the topic.
00:16:57 Jordan: Like, yeah, because that's not even that's like that's not even what about Chicago? That's like, what about Mars?
00:17:05 Darius: Oh, my goodness. He was like, there's domestic violence people in the league. Also bad.
00:17:11 Jordan: Yeah, I saw those tweets. I saw those tweets. Yeah.
00:17:13 Darius: Still not sure. Did did I think it was Luke Cornett?
00:17:18 Jordan: I'm yeah.
00:17:19 Darius: Unless you can say Luke Cornett did anything like that. I'm not sure.
00:17:23 Jordan: Right.
00:17:23 Darius: Like just reading Luke Cornett's statement. It's perfectly reasonable. I don't.
00:17:28 Jordan: It's very normal. I read it. I was like, where's the controversy here?
00:17:32 Darius: Because they're well, they've had that a white guy said it. And to.
00:17:36 Jordan: Yeah.
00:17:38 Darius: I think some of them like genuinely believe that like strip clubs are just synonymous with Atlanta and that's fine. It's not it shouldn't be. But I just want us to be a little bit more serious. Like, just someone was like, wake me up when Luke Cornett donates to a women's violence shelter. And I'm like, is that really the standard you want to say? You can't, beating women is only bad. You can only say beating women is bad if you donate to women's shelters. That's really what we're doing here.
00:18:11 Jordan: Yeah, that was crazy. Someone was like, there's known abuses in the league, but now you care about protecting women. I'm like, that's not the same thing.
00:18:17 Darius: Also, maybe he doesn't want those guys... He's like, I'm sure if he would like, hey, should women beaters be in the league? He'd be like, no, they can go to.
00:18:25 Jordan: Yeah, he probably would say that. I'm sure most people in the NBA would say that, you know?
00:18:32 Darius: I just need us to be a bit more serious, man.
00:18:35 Jordan: Yeah. That's, I wonder who pitched that idea?
00:18:42 Darius: A boron.
00:18:42 Jordan: And how it got a, yeah, and how it got approved.
00:18:46 Darius: You know, I just think. That's a good question. I would love because they're standing by it. And I think they someone just thought that they were just doing wings and hoodies and that's fine. But not not to be, you know, the two woke friend, but there are kids there and kids can like, okay, it's Magic City. Just tell your kids it's magic like Disney. Like, okay, a magic kingdom. Like a teenage boy isn't going to go Google what Magic City is. It's just, you know.
00:19:18 Jordan: And also, we, can't do that. And then, everybody lost their **** when Lizzo had her *** out at the Laker game a few years ago. Like, we can't, we can't have both. You know what I mean?
00:19:28 Darius: Strip clubs are fine, but it's okay. Like, it's kind of like, honestly, it's like gambling. Like, it's best at the fringes. Like, you know, everybody notified.
00:19:40 Jordan: There's an underworld there.
00:19:43 Darius: You touched down in Atlanta. You know how to get there. You know how to find it. We don't need to be cross promo promoing with the NBA team. Like just leave some stuff to if you know, like they get enough.
00:19:55 Jordan: They get enough free pub from literally every rap song in the last 25 years. I think they're okay.
00:20:00 Darius: You don't understand. This is a cultural institution in Atlanta. And it's like, you're not embarrassed to say that. Because that's that would be embarrassed to say that. They're talking like it's Dr. King's house. Like it's a strip club, man.
00:20:15 Jordan: Like it's Mount Rushmore or something.
00:20:19 Darius: It's just come on. Like it's the ******* Liberty Bell. It is outrageous, man. You want to talk about some gym etiquette?
00:20:26 Jordan: Yeah. So I was at the gym last night and like this, I kept walking past this guy who was on the chest press machine. And there was like an aura around him of loud. Like it was like a ******* like, the dirty kid from Charlie Brown where there's like the dirt bubbles or whatever. It was like that. Like it was like getting that high for going into a gym is ******* bonkers. Also like just, you couldn't have smoked in like a hoodie and taken it off and then went to the gym. Like, I don't know. I thought I was crazy.
00:21:01 Darius: There is an epidemic of people showing up places loud. And they should know that they stink. Weed only smells good to the people smoking it. The people who are not high with you think you stink. And like you said, man, what do you even like getting high before the gym would just **** my whole workout up.
00:21:27 Jordan: I wouldn't even make your mouth dry and ****.
00:21:31 Darius: Yeah, not a fan. Not a fan, man.
00:21:35 Jordan: Yeah. I feel like weed smokers have gotten like, people give the vape smokers like a lot of flack and somewhat justifiably so, but weed smokers are way worse because like they can't do anything without smoking. Like they're like, you know, I got to wake up, I got to smoke, I got to, I got to smoke, I got to, you know, and they kind of just skated on, they like in terms of like addicts. They get none of the none of the like the bad press that any other.
00:22:04 Darius: It's the other thing, which is kind of crazy. You can do every only substance you can use every single day that no one will call you a junkie or like, you know, for doing. Well, if we're going to stay on gym etiquette, my gym job, my biggest gym pet peeve is people who what I like to say have a like a large gym footprint. So they like, they bring their gym bag on the floor. And their gym bag is that one thing And then they're at this thing and then maybe they have a camera set up over here and it's like, I don't know which machine you're using. So all three are like, can you just like, I understand that you think you're only using one, but like you're at three?
00:22:43 Jordan: You're right.
00:22:44 Darius: And you need to just.
00:22:45 Jordan: And no one's going to touch your stuff.
00:22:48 Darius: No one's going to touch stuff.
00:22:49 Jordan: We do.
00:22:51 Darius: And I don't know what you're using. And I just need, I don't like people with like large gym footprints. So just like, yeah. Why is your I don't even understand how people bring their gym bags on the floor. Yeah. What is that? What do you need in there? Can someone explain that to me? I don't get it.
00:23:09 Jordan: Like there's lockers.
00:23:12 Darius: Yeah, lockers everywhere. I just tossed my eye in the corner. There's nothing in there for you to steal. You want some beat up old Nike Air Maxes and some sweatpants. You can have if you need it. If you're going to steal that, you need it more than me. So you have it. We're going to skip the next one because I want to feel like a jerk. So first year of marriage. I'm going to talk about that one. I'm going to skip that next topic.
00:23:39 Jordan: Especially if the one we just talked about. Yeah. So I was watching a movie the other day and someone was talking about like, The character was talking about, the first year of marriage being the hardest. And I, no one ever actually says why, or I've never really heard anyone say or explain why. And so I kind of, I've been thinking about it. And I wonder if it's because it's almost like, I have a theory that it's almost like a postpartum where like you have, you know, the planning the wedding, you have the wedding, you have the reception, you have the honeymoon, you know, you got the honeymoon phase, whatever. And then it's like, All right, what do we do now? Like it's like such a bunch of series, long series of highs and then you just go back to like normal life. And I'd imagine that's probably like a really big crash and like a super hard adjustment to take after, you know, all the pomp and circumstance.
00:24:28 Darius: I've never heard that. Who said this again?
00:24:29 Jordan: It was just a movie I was watching. But I've heard a lot of people say like, you know, they always say, they say the first year of marriage is the hardest.
00:24:38 Darius: Seven-year blues around year seven. Y'all start getting tired?
00:24:42 Jordan: Oh yeah, seven, seven-year itch. Yeah.
00:24:45 Darius: Never heard of the first. You would think you're still a newlyweds. Yeah. You still ******* after work during the week. So I don't really.
00:24:56 Jordan: I guess there is a together before you got married. So I always wonder what I always wonder like what the adjustment is.
00:25:03 Darius: Okay, so that's actually a good question. Should people live together before they get married?
00:25:11 Jordan: Yeah, I mean, I think so. I mean, I wouldn't do it unless like I was engaged personally. Or at least I've been together for like 2, three years, something like that, where like your life is ****** if you, know. Yeah, I think so, because it's so that way, so that way you know if you can live with them for the rest of your life. I don't think that's some **** you want to find out after you say I do. So yeah, I'd say you probably should at least for six months to a year before you get married.
00:25:38 Darius: Do you think living together before you get married exposes you to being a forever boyfriend? Because what do you have to get married for? I found that happens a lot. People, couples who move in before they get married just end up in these tenured engagements. Yeah. And like, cause What do you have to look forward to, you know?
00:26:02 Jordan: True. I mean, a lot of the couples I know that are married or that are newlyweds, they lived together beforehand.
00:26:13 Darius: And to be fair, it's almost unheard of not to these days.
00:26:16 Jordan: Well, yeah, true, true. That's true. Yeah, I don't I mean, I think the people that I know that were like, were in super long term, you know what, that's a good point. You're right, because I just thought of a couple or sorry, I thought of somebody. in a similar situation. I think it really depends on honestly, like the character of your partner and how much they value their partner. Honestly, like if you are someone who's been with someone for X amount of years and you're living together and you haven't married them, like they're clearly just holding on for something better.
00:26:50 Darius: The status quo bias is real though, right? Like if you if you shack it up and things are going great, And y'all are in sync and life is you're good.
00:27:03 Jordan: Yeah.
00:27:04 Darius: You look, you look at it like why introduce a variable? We're fine.
00:27:09 Jordan: Yeah. That's crazy expensive.
00:27:14 Darius: I mean, well, you don't have to be. Did you see the $10,000 baby shower discourse? No, I didn't see that. just be typing, bro. Ain't nobody spending 10 bands on a baby shower. Like, why y'all lying on the internet like this?
00:27:27 Jordan: Again, the internet is not a real place.
00:27:30 Darius: She was like, well, if you got 100 people in an open bar, I was like, okay, that's not a baby shower. Yeah.
00:27:35 Jordan: Who the **** has an open bar for a baby shower?
00:27:36 Darius: Who's drinking at a baby shower?
00:27:39 Jordan: That too. No, yeah, that too.
00:27:41 Darius: The ******* the host is pregnant.
00:27:44 Jordan: Yeah, you're eating hors d'oeuvres and playing.
00:27:48 Darius: I feel like if you get lit at the baby, unless that's what the host wants. But normally, the host is, it's not.
00:27:59 Jordan: I think it's about time to call that number if you're drinking that baby shower.
00:28:06 Darius: Yeah, I don't, yeah, no. I mean, to be fair, I haven't been to a lot of baby showers, but.
00:28:12 Jordan: The one I've been to like one or two.
00:28:13 Darius: I've been to one and there were beverages, but everybody drunk though. But it was just have a white car to hang out, play a game and then bounce because Yeah, there's nothing for a man to do with baby shower. They're not. The donuts are great, though. I've been I've been looking for those donuts ever since. It's hard to find good donuts in Raleigh.
00:28:43 Jordan: That's true.
00:28:44 Darius: Listeners, if you know from good donut spots, I'll hear them. But circling back to the topic.
00:28:48 Jordan: Donuts and Rise donuts are good.
00:28:50 Darius: Rise is not good. Duck is good, though. Circling back to the topic, though. No, I mean, I see it both ways. Look, The cultural standard now is to move in together before you get married. And also there's like huge economic benefits to it in a sense that like, you know, you split rent, you know, that's a lot of money you save every month. It's just, it's a lot to ask someone, especially if they're now saving up for a wedding to lose, you know, and then, you know, so I think couples, while I don't think it's the best idea It's the cultural norm and bucking the cultural norm is just not worth the stress that comes with it, you know? And so you should move in together first year of marriage. I don't know why that would be hard if you already lived together beforehand.
00:29:41 Jordan: Yeah.
00:29:43 Darius: Well, so the first year with kids or without kids.
00:29:52 Jordan: I mean, I've heard the phrase, I heard that phrase like a long time ago. So I'm that one. That's probably back when things a little more traditional. Got you.
00:29:59 Darius: I'll just type clean up here. No, it's, I don't know. I think people should do what works best for them. But if I could draw it up in a lab, I would say you shouldn't live together before you get married because you should keep as much novelty as you can. But I just don't think that's realistic in 2026. So Shack up, test drive that car and just don't let it trap you in a cycle of complacency to where your forever boyfriend. Make her an honest woman. Next on the rundown, we got jealousy. What you got?
00:30:36 Jordan: Yes, there's this big debate or discourse going on on TikTok where a girl went viral for saying that she was had some jealous feelings towards one of her friends. And she said she basically felt like her friend was like, living the life that she in theory would have thought she was supposed to have.
00:30:56 Darius: Okay.
00:30:57 Jordan: And she was saying, like, and I just felt like part of my jealousy was that I felt like they did they there was no struggle or maybe they didn't have to like work for the things they got, which, rather for context, people found out later on that the friend that she was talking about, like went to law school. I'm like, that's a lot of ******* work. But Yeah, so the discourse, there's an interesting lot of discourse between, some people were saying, a smaller amount of people were saying that jealousy is like a normal human emotion. And a lot of people were saying, of course, that you shouldn't be jealous of your friends and that, you know, you don't, you never want to be surrounded by a bunch of insecure people or surround yourself with someone who's insecure to a almost toxic point. You know, I'm of the belief that like if someone's jealous of you, they They can kill you, not literally, but they, in the sense from a stand. You got our cold open. It breeds, it breeds contempt. You know what I mean? You know, you got Julius Caesar, you got Cain and Abel, you got, there's just lots of stories of jealousy seething and things that, you know, can spiral from that. I'm not saying literally if a friend has like, is jealous because you got a nice car, they'll kill you. But you get what I'm saying. So yeah, I thought it was kind of an interesting conversation and made me reflect on certain friendships and dynamics and things of that n
